The recently released fourth chapter of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga has made several major revelations. Most notably, it has introduced a new antagonistic group that appears poised to drive the plot going forward, much like how Akatsuki emerged after the time-skip in Naruto to become the central villain.
Even though Akatsuki was present early on in the original Naruto storyline, they did not take on an active role until Shippuden after the time jump.
It seems the Boruto creator, Masashi Kishimoto, is taking a similar narrative approach by unveiling this new threatening faction post-time skip.
While this new congregation of adversaries has yet to be formally named, one could refer to them as a modern-day Akatsuki equivalent based on their sudden important emergence at this later stage.
Though the identities of all the members are not fully clear, an insightful fan theory has uncovered who most of them likely are.
It will be exciting to see this mysterious band of enemies shape up to drive the tension and conflict moving forward in this new arc, especially without revealing too much about their motivations or endgame at this early stage. Their introduction opens up many intriguing story possibilities.
Boruto Theory Confirms Identities of New Akatsuki Members
Chapter 4 of the Boruto manga has revealed two of the four members comprising this new antagonist group bearing similarities to Akatsuki – they are Divine Tree incarnations of Bug and Sasuke.
However, the identities of the other two Divine Tree adversaries remain unconfirmed at this stage. Many fans speculate that the female Divine Tree member is likely Moegi Kazamatsuri, leader of Team 10 in the series.
This is based on clues that the Divine Tree versions retain the abilities of the original shinobi.
In this case, the female antagonist uses an Earth Release jutsu called Gravel, just as Moegi had done previously on Amado.
Though while Moegi had targeted Amado, this Divine Tree counterpart directed the same technique at Boruto. So there are definite parallels pointing to this being Moegi’s Divine Tree doppelganger.
As for the fourth mystery Divine Tree member, their identity remains more ambiguous and open to debate among fans.
But the unveiling of this new faction beyond just Boruto and Kawaki as antagonists paves an exciting path for the plot moving forward. It will be interesting to learn more about the group’s motives and the endgames they pursue.
There are compelling visual and plot similarities that point to the female Divine Tree member being a transformed version of Moegi Kazamatsuri.
The distinctive shape of the Divine Tree’s head bears a striking resemblance to Moegi’s hairstyle, hinting at a connection.
Additionally, having Moegi turned into an antagonist by the Divine Tree makes narrative sense as an impactful development for Team 10, given their history.
It would parallel the traumatic death of Asuma Sarutobi at the hands of Hidan which devastated the original Team 10 in Naruto Shippuden. Creator Masashi Kishimoto seems to be taking inspiration from his previous iconic story beats.
Having this dramatic twist revealed – perhaps by Konoha shinobi discovering a Divine Tree-converted Moegi – would be another gut-punch moment.
It would signal immense danger and personal stakes for the heroes beyond Kawaki and Boruto. Fans eagerly await confirmation by the manga that this convincing theory about Moegi and Team 10’s fate proves true.
The stage has been set for an emotional rollercoaster akin to Shippuden if it unfolds this way.
While Moegi seems the most plausible candidate for the female Divine Tree member, some have speculated whether it could instead be Delta.
However, the cyborg nature of Delta’s character seems at odds with the Divine Tree’s human transformation dynamic.
That being said, the manga storyline could perhaps still engineer an explanation for this discrepancy if Kishimoto wished to surprise readers.
As for the unrevealed male leader of this new Divine Tree group, fans have proposed two possibilities – Code and Jigen.
Initially when Code first appeared in Chapter 2, many thought he was just a minor one-off character invented to demonstrate the Claw Marks to Sarada.
However, upon this antagonist team’s emergence, Code’s status has been elevated in fans’ minds as a prime suspect behind the male Divine Tree’s mask.
Others think it may actually wind up being a Divine Tree version of Jigen instead, resurrected in this form after his demise in a previous arc.
As with the female member, confirmation awaits regarding the true identity of this mysterious captain steering the new collective threat.
Either way, the suspense and speculation around this group’s formation have added fresh intrigue to the plot. Fans are enthusiastic to decode more breadcrumbs about these dynamic new adversaries driving events in the manga presently.
