Valorware has officially launched Boil Cabbage Make Soup on Steam, bringing its unusual combination of idle gameplay, desktop companionship, and soup-making to PC. Set within the developer’s established 9th Dawn universe, the game puts players in charge of a hardworking onion chef tasked with growing cabbage and turning it into soup for an assortment of strange customers.

The game is available for $2.99 during its launch promotion, representing a 25% discount from its standard $3.99 price. The introductory offer runs until August 26, after which Boil Cabbage Make Soup will return to its regular price.

The Steam release also introduces a special guest appearance from Ropuka, the frog from Valorware’s Ropuka’s Idle Island. Ropuka can provide bonus cabbages, giving players an additional boost as they develop their soup-making operation.

Build a Soup Empire While You Work

Boil Cabbage Make Soup is designed to run directly on the desktop, allowing the onion chef to continue producing soup in the background while players concentrate on other activities. Players can develop their island, unlock customization options, dress their onion, and spend accumulated gold on upgrades that improve production.

The game also brings familiar faces and creatures from the 9th Dawn series into the experience. Players can serve these unusual customers while creating their own island and choosing how their soup-making operation looks.

Music is another customizable element. The soundtrack includes selections from 9th Dawn III and 9th Dawn Remake, with pitch-shifting and reverb options allowing players to create either a relaxed or more adventurous atmosphere.

Despite its idle-game structure, Boil Cabbage Make Soup is not limited to solo play. Players can connect with up to two friends online, visit each other’s islands, and earn special bonuses.

Valorware founder Tom Au described the project as an important new direction for the studio, saying, “Boil Cabbage Make Soup is a bold step for Valorware” while highlighting the team’s move into a new genre and its expanded use of 3D modeling.

The game is currently available on Steam for $2.99, with the price increasing to $3.99 on August 26. Two bundles featuring Ropuka’s Idle Island and Tiny Monster Haven are also receiving a 10% discount as part of the launch promotion.
