Inti Creates has officially announced Azure Striker Gunvolt Trilogy Enhanced: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, bringing its acclaimed action-platformer series to next-generation Nintendo hardware. The collection bundles all three main entries in the franchise while introducing upgraded performance and entirely new content designed to expand the experience for returning players and newcomers alike.
The release is scheduled for sometime in 2026 and will coincide with a new story addition titled Azure Striker Gunvolt GX, which will also be available for PC and PlayStation 5 versions of the collection. This announcement highlights continued support for the franchise as it transitions to newer platforms.
A Complete Collection With Modern Enhancements
The Azure Striker Gunvolt Trilogy Enhanced package includes the original trilogy: Azure Striker Gunvolt (2014), Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 (2016), and Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 (2022). Each title is known for its fast-paced 2D action gameplay, combining precise platforming with combat mechanics centered around Gunvolt’s electric abilities.
This new edition aims to deliver the definitive version of the trilogy. All previously released downloadable content will be included, ensuring that players have access to the full scope of each game’s content. For fans of the series, this collection offers a streamlined way to experience the complete storyline without needing separate purchases.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version also introduces improvements tailored to next-generation hardware. These include higher frame rates and enhanced resolution, which are expected to make gameplay smoother and more visually refined compared to earlier releases.

New Story Mode Expands the Gunvolt Universe
One of the biggest additions in this release is the brand-new story mode, Azure Striker Gunvolt GX. This mode introduces a fresh narrative and gameplay mechanics that build on the foundation of the original trilogy.
Players will take control of a tag-team system featuring Gunvolt and his rival-turned-ally Copen. This dual-character approach allows for new strategies, as players can switch between the two characters during gameplay. Each character comes with unique abilities and weapons, adding depth to combat and level design.
The new mode also introduces an “Inspiration” system, which rewards players for switching between characters at key moments. This mechanic encourages more dynamic gameplay and adds a layer of tactical decision-making that was not present in earlier entries.
What This Means for Nintendo Switch 2
The announcement reinforces the growing lineup for the Nintendo Switch 2, which is expected to support enhanced versions of both new and existing titles. By bringing a well-established franchise like Gunvolt to the platform, Nintendo continues to appeal to fans of classic-style action games.
While the trilogy will also be available on other platforms, the Switch 2 edition stands out due to its focus on performance upgrades and accessibility within Nintendo’s ecosystem. Players who upgrade to the new console will be able to experience the series with improved technical capabilities while retaining the portable and hybrid features that define the platform.
Continued Support Across Platforms
In addition to the Switch 2 release, the Gunvolt GX story content will be made available for PlayStation 5 and PC versions of the trilogy. This cross-platform support ensures that the new content reaches a broader audience while maintaining consistency across different systems.
The decision to release the new story mode across multiple platforms suggests that Inti Creates is committed to keeping the franchise active and relevant. By expanding the narrative and gameplay, the developer is building on the series’ legacy while introducing new elements to keep it fresh.
