Bocchi the Rock! is the story of a young girl, Gotou Hitori, who desperately wants to become popular but suffers from crippling anxiety. Because of this, she has a tough time making friends. She tried her best to make herself seem approachable, but her classmates became afraid of her instead. That was when he saw a popular member of a Band claiming how he was dark and gloomy also and that he started to shine after joining the band.
With this newfound wisdom, she decides to form a band. She borrows her father’s old Guitar and starts practicing. Even though Hitori became quite proficient, she was unable to form a bad while in middle school. However, she was able to amass an online following with her song covers. She is confident that she will realize her dream in High School.
But she soon realizes that it is easier said than done. Even after carrying around her Guitar all day, no one approached him. Hitori realized that she might never form a band. As if out of nowhere, she is approached by Ijichi Nijika. She was looking for a guitar player to sub in for their band even though reluctant Hitori agreed to do it.
Nijika explains how she is a Drummer and is supposed to go live in a few hours. When their guitar player canceled last second, they were in a bind. At the venue, Hitori meets Yamada Ryou, the bass player. There they gave Hitori a new nickname, Boochi. With some practice, they were able to put forth a semi-decent performance, and Boochi was officially invited to join the band.

Ikuyo Kita ran away from home again, and the band is now forced to deal with it. They took her back home, and to no one’s surprise, Kita’s mom was very hostile towards them, especially towards Hitori. Kita’s mom seems to believe it is Hitori who is making Kita act out. Hitori is speechless and desperately tries to clear things up with Kita’s mom.
After talking to Kita’s mom for a long time, Hitori was able to clear up a lot of misconceptions Kita’s mom had about her. Kita’s Mom realizes that the band is not as bad as she thought. Furthermore, Hitori asks Kita’s mom to come to their live performance so that she can see how good her daughter is. Since Hitori was the one who taught Kita, it should be good.

In Chapter 68, Nita’s mom would most likely come to watch them perform live as per Hitori’s invitation. This will likely put extra pressure on the band as that performance would determine Nita’s future in the band. They would have to work extra hard to impress Nita’s Family and gain their approval. Although it’s small, Nita’s mom seems to be warning Hitori. Furthermore, it was revealed that Nita’s mom loves her dearly and misses her daughter.
