Blue Lock enthusiasts have much to anticipate this year, with the impending release of its second season and an exciting prequel novel titled Blue Lock: Before the Fight slated for July.
This novel promises to cover the backgrounds of three prominent supporting characters, offering fans a deeper understanding of their journeys. Similar to the Episode Nagi movie, which focused on Seishiro Nagi before the main series events, this novel shifts the spotlight onto three key characters.
Among them is Jyubei Aryu, the stylish and skilled center-back known for his distinctive long hair. Joining him is Shoei Baro, whose memorable presence in the first season was marked by his selfish and arrogant gameplay, propelling him to the project’s elite ranks.
Lastly, Kenyu Yukimiya stands out with his charisma and laid-back demeanor, despite facing challenges due to optic neuropathy.
Penned by Momo Moegi in collaboration with the manga’s illustrator Yusuke Nomura, Blue Lock: Before the Fight will feature exclusive illustrations to complement the narrative. Japanese fans can anticipate its release on July 17, as listed on Amazon Japan.
While this novel appears to be a standalone work for now, the possibility of additional volumes remains uncertain, leaving fans eager for more updates. Blue Lock joins a roster of series receiving light novel prequels or spinoffs, echoing the trend seen in popular titles like Jujutsu Kaisen.
