Netflix has officially revealed that Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 will premiere in January 2027, while also confirming that Mizu’s story will conclude with Season 3 in 2028. The announcement came alongside a new teaser and fresh images from the acclaimed adult animated series, giving fans their first major look at the next chapter of Mizu’s violent journey.
Season 1 ended with Mizu sailing toward London with Abijah Fowler, continuing her search for the remaining men who could be connected to her birth. The new season will immediately expand the scope of the story by taking the blue-eyed warrior outside Japan, while other major characters remain caught in the political dangers of Edo-period Japan.
Netflix’s announcement is significant because it provides both a release window for Season 2 and a clear long-term direction for the series. Blue Eye Samurai now has a planned final chapter, meaning Mizu’s quest for revenge is heading toward an ending rather than continuing indefinitely.
Mizu Takes Her Revenge Quest to London in Season 2
According to the official Netflix announcement, Season 2 follows Mizu as her “bloody quest continues in London,” where she will face new allies, familiar enemies, and her own inner demons. The teaser continues the story from Season 1’s final moments, with Mizu entering an unfamiliar world in search of answers about her past.
Creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green previously discussed the importance of putting Mizu in a completely different cultural environment. Noizumi said it would be interesting to explore how Europeans respond to her and asked, “Are they all the monsters she thinks they are?”
Back in Japan, the story will continue with Akemi and Taigen navigating the dangers of Edo Castle under a new shogun. Meanwhile, Ringo will begin searching for a new purpose, giving Season 2 multiple storylines across two very different worlds.
Blue Eye Samurai Season 3 Will Bring the Story to an End

Netflix has also confirmed that Blue Eye Samurai Season 3 will arrive in 2028 and serve as the epic conclusion of the series. The announcement gives the creative team a defined endpoint for Mizu’s story as her journey moves beyond Japan and closer to the answers she has spent her life seeking.
Maya Erskine is expected to return as Mizu, alongside Brenda Song as Akemi, Darren Barnet as Taigen, and Masi Oka as Ringo. Amber Noizumi and Michael Green return as creators, writers, and executive producers, with Blue Spirit once again handling animation.
The first season earned major recognition for its striking visual style, mature storytelling, and sword-fighting action, including the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program. With Season 2 taking Mizu to London and Season 3 now confirmed as the finale, Netflix is positioning the next two chapters as the final stages of a revenge story that has already taken the animated world by storm.
