Christmas Eve is here, and holy moly Taiki has made some actual progress now as his relationship with Kano advances even more. In the last few chapters, we saw Taiki giving it his all by competing with his seniors in a running competition until his legs gave out to running towards Kano just to help her get the tickets to the competition. Even though Taiki wanted to keep it all a secret, it didn’t stop Kano from finding the truth.
Kano has now made up with Yumeka also, and it is all thanks to Taiki’s efforts. The Christmas night shines brighter, and the melody of the jingle bells gets louder as these two dive into each other’s eyes and hug for the first time(right!?) Taiki blushes so hard that we don’t even need a colored panel to know it. This new development in their relationship is a welcome one, and we can only hope for even more cute moments to come in the upcoming chapters of Blue Box!
Blue Box Chapter 96 “Christmas Eve”: Recap
The match between Eimei high school and Kirigasaki Academy has come to an end, with Kano’s team being victorious. Kano comes out of the stadium and finds Yumeka standing outside, who asks Kano how she got there.
Kano explains that a first year on the boy’s badminton team gave her the tickets. Yumeka congratulates Kano for winning the first round and apologizes for her rude comments. Kano also apologizes for not speaking about what she truly wanted and tells Yumeka that she only wanted to play more basketball with her, and she starts crying afterward.
Yumeka asks Kano why she is crying, but she also starts crying. After some time, they both start apologizing to each other until someone interrupts them, and they start laughing again. Kano recalls Taiki’s words on how love can make someone truly stronger and how it is the greatest self-affirmation there is when Yumeka suddenly asks Kano to play basketball again sometime. Kano mentally tells her dad that her strength is back now.
Meanwhile, a Christmas celebration is taking place at Taiki’s place. Ayame has become a Santa and is seen distributing chocolates and cookies to everyone while they bow in front of her. Ayame leaves with the girls for Karaoke when Taiki arrives, lost in thoughts, thinking about how Kano’s match turned out as he doesn’t even know the score.
Taiki gets grabbed by his friends, who take him for strength training while he tries to run away as it’s Christmas Eve. Taiki realizes that he’ll be annoying if he tries to get between Yumeka and Kano so much, and so he gives up on it and starts enjoying the celebrations.
Taiki enjoys his Christmas celebrations while not paying attention to his phone. Kano tries calling Taiki, but he doesn’t answer, so she leaves Nagisa and the others and heads home to meet up with him. Kano arrives home and finds that Taiki hasn’t returned yet, and so she leaves to find him at school.
She finds out that the school is hosting a huge Christmas celebration, and everyone asks her about her match, but Kano avoids everyone by saying she came back to pick up something she forgot.
Kano leaves the main hall to find Taiki when she hears someone sing a jingle bell. She follows the sound and finds Taiki sitting alone, decorating the Christmas tree. She enters the room, which shocks Taiki, who calls her a ghost, but she argues that he should be expecting Santa at this time. Taiki asks her about her game as she should be present there, but Kano replies that she won the first round, and she comes to thank him for the tickets and also for helping her make up with Yumeka.
Taiki tells Kano that just as she was influenced by Yumeka, he was influenced by Kano, and so all he did was just return the favor. The sounds of Christmas get louder while Taiki and Kano look each other in the eyes. Kano gets close to Taiki and asks him to hug her for some time.
