On April 19th, a fun anecdote emerged from Big Bang’s Taeyang during a video featuring members Daesung, Taeyang, rapper Beenzino, and actors Joo Won and Go Kyung-pyo sharing stories about their military service on the YouTube channel “ZIP DS.”
Taeyang candidly admitted, “I did well,” prompting laughter from the group. He revealed how he transformed into a barber soldier out of sheer boredom during his military stint. Taeyang explained, “It was boring in the military. There were no games at my unit, and the PX was open almost once or twice a week. I wanted to create something, but there was nothing to do.”
To combat the monotony, Taeyang decided to learn haircutting despite not officially being a barber soldier. He expressed confidence, saying, “I felt like I could do well. Others were not talented.
I felt like I would do well if I learned, so I told them to teach me.” Soon, Taeyang found himself cutting hair for fellow soldiers, earning a reputation as the go-to barber in his unit.
Adding his creative touch, Taeyang incorporated the 5th Corps’ V-shaped emblem into his haircuts, creating a signature style. However, this unique endeavour did not escape the notice of the battalion commander, who questioned the unconventional hairstyles, leading to laughter among the group.
