Ben White expressed optimism, stating Arsenal’s peak under Mikel Arteta awaits, following his renewal for a four-year contract. According to sources, the 26-year-old’s agreement extends until 2028 with a potential 12-month extension, concluding prolonged talks after Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka’s commitments to the club.
“I think if you do look at the ages [of the players], it’s going to get better,” White said. “When those sort of players are getting signed, it shows there is a real ambition about the club and it is something I am loving being a part of.”
Since his arrival from Brighton for £50 million [$64m] in July 2021, White has amassed 122 appearances for Arsenal. Before his move to London, the center-back had loan spells at Newport County, Peterborough, and Leeds United, where his breakthrough at Brighton paved the way for his transfer.
“I have been on loan three times, I have been places for a year,” he said.
“I think this is the first time I’ve actually settled and known I am not going anywhere in the summer. Being here is unbelievable and I’d love to stay [for more years].”
Arteta, leading Arsenal to the Premier League summit with 10 games remaining and their first Champions League quarterfinal since 2010, remarked,
“It’s fantastic news that Ben is extending his stay at the club. Ben is integral to our team, a consummate professional with a winning mindset, and a leader who sets the standard daily.
“Ben’s skill, drive, and optimistic outlook are invaluable, but his character and humanity are equally remarkable. We eagerly anticipate our ongoing collaboration with Ben in the years ahead.”
