Begins Youth revolves around seven boys as they go through school and personal challenges like family problems, loss, poverty, and more. Each boy has their own struggles to deal with, from feeling abandoned to facing violence and rejection.
Kim Hwan, who reluctantly returns to Songju-si, meets six other boys. Being an outsider and the son of Kim Chang Jun, he faces suspicion and misunderstandings from the group, leading to conflicts. Despite the initial awkwardness, they gradually bond and become friends.
They share their troubles, play together, and support one another, realizing they all have similar family issues. Hwan, initially unsure about staying, starts to enjoy his time with the boys and wishes for their days together to never end.
However, Chang Jun, Hwan’s father, disapproves of the other boys, seeing them as worthless. He insists that Hwan stay away from them, but for the first time, Hwan stands up for himself and confronts his emotions, challenging his obedient nature.
