The seventh episode, dubbed ‘Pick Your Poison,’ might depict Mary in her darkest and most poisonous form as Poison Ivy, and Ryan will suffer as a result. Ryan, the harrowed protagonist, must juggle several parts of her life, not to mention her taxing relationship with her mother, Jada. Aside from just that, she appears to be on a different frequency than the Bat Team, who are still unsure of her motives. Furthermore, Ryan will be drawn into an unpleasant brawl involving Luke and Mary. Finally, Alice will locate a new assistant.
Sophie is still looking into the truth of The Black Glove and also who almost murdered Jordan. She kidnaps Virgil, but he expires before she can even learn anything about him. Ryan’s connection with Sophie and Mary is strained since she isn’t telling Sophie all she knows about Jada’s participation and has no clue Mary was afflicted. The only person who sees Mary’s abrupt behavioral changes is Alice, who successfully turns her into an ally, presumably to aid her own escape.
Renee finds out interesting things
Renee and the Bat Team discover who assaulted a guy called Chris. She comes and finds him covered in plants, drenched in honey, and surrounded by bees. Later, she instructs paramedics to transport him to Mary’s clinic and discovers his phone. She then meets Ryan and Alice. Renee is finally persuaded by Alice to inform Ryan about Poison Ivy as well as how the vine attacked someone. As a result, whoever is afflicted did this. Renee assigns Ryan the duty of unlocking Chris’ phone while Alice visits the clinic.
Plants have almost taken over the clinic. Mary works on Chris while Alice claims Mary did it, which she dismisses as Alice’s delusions. Chris begins to awaken. He becomes terrified when he sees Mary. She was also the one who harmed him. Mary informs Luke and Ryan at the Bat Cave that she is the new Poison Ivy, but they are skeptical. Alice uses this opportunity to tell what she knows. They’re not going to be telling Renee, however. When they successfully unlock Chris’ phone, they discover that the last person he texted was Mary.
Mary is now shackled to a railing to prevent her from hurting anybody else. Meanwhile, Luke keeps tabs on Mary’s whereabouts. First, they discover she met Chris on a dating app. He rejected her, according to their DMs. He then follows Mary’s phone GPS to a shop where she bought plant materials and then to a deserted lot. Alice and Batwoman head to the parking lot. There’s nothing noteworthy—only an empty bag of dirt and an upside-down plant container.
Alice kicks the can down the road, revealing Virgil, the Black Glove agent, buried alive with just his head above the earth. They return to find out how Mary tracked Virgil. Renee comes up to Wayne’s house as they attempt to figure out what she’s up to. Ryan approaches her to speak with her, and Renee suspects Ryan is up to something. She wants to interrogate Virgil, but Ryan refuses to do so until Renee departs. While Ryan and Renee are conversing, Alice informs Luke and Mary about Renee’s relationship with Pamela (aka OG Poison Ivy).
The Investigation Ensues
Following that, they begin to investigate what causes Mary’s switch to flip. Ryan returns to fill in the blanks. Alice suggests that they ask Sophie whether Virgil said anything. Sophie, on the other hand, is not meant to know anything about Virgil. Later, the sun shines down on Mary, who wallows in it. Alice starts a rumor about Ryan. She and Luke dispute until Mary smacks Luke in the head and puts him out. The catalyst is sunlight. Alice unties Mary’s shackles. Mary phones Renee and claims to have a tip regarding Poison Ivy, which she intends to use to get Renee to the botanic gardens.
Sophie is trying to figure out who harmed Jordan as the Bat Team is working on the case. Ryan attempts to assure her that Jada doesn’t know, but she won’t listen. This irritates Sophie, who is furious that Ryan prefers the mother who left her above Sophie. So Sophie instead asks Renee for a favor. And they have a tumultuous past. They banter back and forth until Renee gives in and asks what Sophie’s favor is. After that, Sophie inquires about Black Glove, but Renee has no information.
Sophie interrogates Virgil
Sophie questions Virgil. He says that a mom with a problematic child hired him to assist her. The mother then organized a network of similarly wealthy parents with children in need of assistance. Batwoman stops him before he can expose Jada’s concern with Marquis. She and Sophie dispute off to the side. When they’re out of sight, Virgil hangs himself with the chains he’s hanging from. Renee and Mary had a spat in the botanical garden. Mary mocks Renee by trying to bring up Pamela, and Renee attempts to reason with her. Mary responds by snatching Renee away with vines. When Batwing and Batwoman arrive, they don’t notice Mary. Batwoman understands they were brought there as well, just before the vines snatched them away.
They are liberated, and Batwoman sets off to locate Mary. But Mary is the one who discovers Batwing initially. She ties him up, and he tries to get help from his father. Mary reveals that she removed his suit’s failsafe and AI. Batwoman swoops down, and Mary releases Luke in an epic and beautiful shot. Mary scoffs as Batwoman and says sorry for not being a better friend. Mary expresses her rage at being sidelined, claiming that Batwoman was never her friend. She encases Batwoman in vines and then vanishes just as the cops arrive. Renee frees Batwoman, who is so frustrated that she calls the cops. Renee, on the other hand, informs Ryan that the most dangerous individual in Gotham has just fled.
Luke and Ryan talk about Mary in the bat cave. They both realize they failed Mary and vow to do better in the future. They’ll be on the lookout for her. Ryan then suggests that they discover a treatment for Mary. Luke is unsure how, but Ryan knows someone that can: Jada. Renee and Sophie bury the hatchet that had been between them. Meanwhile, Mary and Alice are strategizing their next steps. They get together and drive away… someplace (and in a car Alice stole).
