Nicole Kidman has been named as Balenciaga’s newest ambassador. The fashion label revealed on Saturday that it will formally partner with the 56-year-old actress in order to strengthen its relationship with her.
Kidman expressed her excitement for the new position by saying, “I’m thrilled to be working with the luxury brand Balenciaga. It has accompanied me on some of the most treasured occasions in my life, including my wedding and the Oscar red carpet.” “Creating more memories together” is what she is looking forward to with the brand, she continued.
Nicole Kidman’s first Balenciaga show
Famous for her part in “Big Little Lies” and for dressing in Balenciaga at key junctures in both her personal and professional lives, Nicole Kidman attended her first Balenciaga show on Saturday.
She attended the Los Angeles launch of Balenciaga’s Fall 2024 collection while wearing an eye-catching all-black ensemble, which is emblematic of the brand. She accessorized with pointy-toe pumps, gloves, monogrammed sunglasses, and an elegant off-the-shoulder coat.
Kidman graced the runway at Balenciaga’s 51st couture show last July. She has worn the brand on red carpets for award shows and her 2006 wedding to Keith Urban.
Kidman is the most recent celebrity to join the prestigious group of ambassadors for Balenciaga, which also includes actors Isabelle Huppert, PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn, and Michelle Yeoh.
The 61-year-old Yeoh announced on Instagram last month that she was the fashion house’s ambassador. Her post said, “I am thrilled to join @balenciaga as their brand ambassador.”
Yeoh expressed her admiration for Balenciaga in a different post, writing, “When I wear Balenciaga, I appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship that go into each piece. The brand always stays loyal to its roots as a couture atelier, yet it also exudes originality and relevance. Being a partner with @balenciaga is an honor.”
Kim Kardashian was appointed as an ambassador in February 2022, but her appointment is no longer visible on the Balenciaga website. She and Nicole Kidman were present at the brand’s fashion show on Saturday.
Balenciaga’s Controversies
Kidman and Yeoh have sided with the company as it attempts to mend its image a year after coming under fire for two contentious holiday ads.
The first campaign was called “Balenciaga Gift Shop” and was shot by Gabriele Galimberti. It showed kids clutching purses that looked like teddy bears with leather collars and harnesses. There were wine glasses in a few of the photos.

A page from a Supreme Court decision on United States v. Williams was featured in the second campaign, Garde-Robe (pictured by someone other than Galimberti), which addressed the illegality of promoting child pornography and emphasized that such acts are not protected by freedom of speech.
Balenciaga addressed the backlash a week after the campaigns’ debut, which drew immediate criticism for allegedly sexualizing children.
The company apologized sincerely in an Instagram post for any offense caused by its holiday campaign, especially for including children’s plush bear bags in an inappropriate way. The campaign was swiftly taken down from all platforms by the brand.
In a second statement posted to its Instagram Story, Balenciaga expressed regret for showcasing upsetting documents and acknowledged the Garde-Robe campaign.
By pursuing legal action against the individuals in charge of the set and the addition of unapproved items to the Spring 23 campaign photo shoot, the brand demonstrated how seriously it took the issue.
In the statement, Balenciaga reaffirmed its commitment to children’s safety and well-being and emphasized how strongly it condemns child abuse in all its forms.
