Are you excited? Because we are! Keisuke Itagaki, the genius behind the gripping Baki manga series, is set to kickstart a brand-new chapter in the series. This year’s 35th issue of Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine revealed that the new Baki series will debut in the 39th issue on August 24.
After the successful run of Baki-Dou, which began in October 2018 and concluded on June 15, we cannot wait to jump back into the adrenaline-fueled world of martial arts, epic battles, and relentless competition. If you thought the recent “Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga” part of Baki Hanma: Son of Ogre season 2 was enough to make us content, then you’re wrong.
In the shady, dim lights of the underground fighting arena, a new chapter is set to dawn, with Baki and his formidable opponents ready to unleash their power upon each other once again. From the illogical fighting logic to the otherworldly strength of foes, Baki is more than ready to bring back the larger-than-life martial arts techniques that hooked us from the very beginning.

The Baki Timeline
The journey kicks off with the “Grappler Baki” series, where we see Baki taking on some seriously powerful opponents, from death row inmates to legendary martial artists. Oh, and he’s also trying to outdo his father, Yujiro Hanma, the strongest creature in the world?
Fast forward a bit, and we enter the “New Grappler Baki” era, where Baki faces crazier challenges. This time, it’s all about an epic showdown called the Raitai Tournament, an ancient contest featuring the most ruthless fighters on the planet. Here, we get to see how powerful Yujiro Hanma really is, but we’re sure that’s only 1 percent of his strength.
Welcome to “Baki: Son of Ogre,” where the stakes are higher than ever. Baki’s quest for power intensifies as he faces the strongest beast in America to find out if he’s up to the mark to fight his father. This season takes us through the most bizarre moments we’ve ever seen in Baki. But that’s what Baki is, so it was very normal.
And now here we are, the anime-only watchers, where we witness “The Ogre (Yujiro Hanma)” in the world fight off a primitive age warrior. The “Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga,” which premiered on July 26 of this year, is the first part of “Baki: Son of Ogre Season 2.” The second part, titled “The Father VS Son Saga,” will premiere on August 24, 2023.
Worth a Watch?
Do you like switching your brain off and watching men fight in the most senseless manner? Then you should give Baki a try. Filled with testosterone-fueled fight sequences where everything science cannot explain happens, watching Baki is the best option to choose if you just want to have fun.
I would love to say the plotline is a multi-layered emotional story that possesses a deep message for its viewers, but I can’t because the story is nothing like that. We have a high-school-going Baki who fights unbelievably strong opponents and who wants to defeat his father, and that’s it. For now, there’s nothing more to the plot.
That being said, Baki is one of the few anime series I’ve watched that was so much fun. I never wanted to hit the gym more and become as strong as the characters. The episodes make your adrenaline rush and will have you saying, “How does that make sense?” But that’s only for the first few episodes. After a while, you will not question anything and just go along with it.
However, if you’re searching for a series like Baki but wish it had an actual storyline, you can try Kengan Ashura.
