Marvel fans, get excited! We now know when filming for Avengers: Doomsday will begin. After some disappointing movies in Phase 4 and 5, last year’s San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) brought back excitement. Fans cheered when Marvel announced that Joe and Anthony Russo would return to direct.
The biggest surprise was the return of Robert Downey Jr., but this time, he will play Doctor Doom. While the studio made some creative changes behind the scenes, fans are thrilled about the return of their favorite filmmakers and actors.
With Captain America: Brave New World and Fantastic Four: The First Steps leading up to the end of the Multiverse Saga, Avengers: Doomsday will start filming in March this year. According to a new report from The Wrap, filming will take place in England.
This marks the first time in ten years that the Avengers franchise will shoot in Britain. The last time was Avengers: Age of Ultron. The previous two films, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, were filmed at Trilith Studios in Atlanta for security reasons.

What Do We Know About Avengers: Doomsday?
As expected, Marvel is keeping the plot and character details secret. Only a few top actors were announced at SDCC. Besides Robert Downey Jr., the confirmed cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Returning actors include Hayley Atwell, Anthony Mackie, Tom Holland, and the full Thunderbolts cast.
The Russo brothers have shared why they wanted to return to the franchise. In an interview with Collider, Anthony Russo explained, “What we’re chasing is this idea that we felt there was more powerful storytelling to be done.”
He added, “That’s what motivated us. We tuned into a story that we felt had to be told, that we wanted to tell, and that would be an incredible thrill, not just for us, but for audiences.”
Joe Russo also talked about why stories matter, saying,
“Stories are one of the last things that we have left that bind people together still. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, or what your political persuasion is, everyone comes together for stories of this scale.
To have the opportunity to try to do that again and to have the opportunity to try to get people excited about a story that they can all get behind and share together was really attractive to us because we knew it had the potential to be another really special experience.”
Marvel has confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday will release in theaters in 2026. Fans cannot wait to see what happens next in the Marvel Universe!
