The official website for the third season of Ryo Shirakome’s Arifureta – From Commonplace to World’s Strongest light novel series streamed the second promotional video following its panel at Anime Expo on Friday, revealing the season’s premiere in October.
The video also introduces and previews the new opening theme song “Unending Wish” by Void_Chords feat. MindaRyn.
Returning cast members include Toshinari Fukamachi as Hajime Nagumo, Yūki Kuwahara as Yue, Minami Takahashi as Shea, Yōko Hikasa as Tio Klarus, Saori Ōnishi as Kaori Shirasaki, Yumiri Hanamori as Shizuku Yaegashi, Noriko Shibasaki as Liliana S. B. Heiligh.
Akira Iwanaga returns to direct the anime at asread, alongside Shoichi Sato overseeing and writing the series scripts, and Chika Kojima serving as character designer and chief animation director. Ryō Takahashi returns to compose the music.
The first season premiered in July 2019, streamed by Funimation with both English subtitles and a dub. The second season debuted in January 2022, also streamed by Funimation.
Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest – A Hero’s Descent into the Abyss
Funimation describes the story as follows: Hajime Nagumo and his high school class are summoned to a fantastical land as heroes. While most have powerful abilities, Hajime does not. Underappreciated, he enters a monster-infested dungeon where survival demands voracity and sacrifice. To thrive, he must embrace the abyss.
J-Novel Club publishes Shirakome’s prequel spinoff novel series Arifureta Zero. Seven Seas publishes manga adaptations in English, including Arifureta – From Commonplace to World’s Strongest: Zero and Arifureta: I Love Isekai spinoff manga.
Shirakome launched the novel series in Japan in June 2015 under the OVERLAP Bunko label, with illustrations by Takayaki, originally presenting it on the user-submission site Shōsetsu ni Narō.
