The wait is going to end soon. It has been five years since Aquaman came to the screens. Good news to you all: the waterman will soon surf around. After waiting for five years, the movie Aquaman is coming to theaters again. Warner Bros. has shown the first preview for “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” which means Jason Momoa is back as the underwater superhero in the DC universe.
In “Lost Kingdom,” we follow Jason Momoa’s character, Arthur Curry, also known as Aquaman. He is now Atlantis’s ruler and is working with his half-brother Orm, played by Patrick Wilson, to battle a dangerous pirate called Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Logline of “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”
Black Manta, who could not beat Aquaman before, is still determined to avenge his father’s death. He is now even more powerful because he has a special weapon called Black Trident, which has some ancient and evil power.
To stop him for good, Aquaman will ask his imprisoned brother Orm, who used to be the king of Atlantis, for help. Even though they do not always get along, they need to work together to protect their kingdom and rescue Aquaman’s family and the whole world from being destroyed forever.
The new Aquaman movie is the fourth DC movie this year. The other DC movies like “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, “The Flash,” and “Blue Beetles” did not do as well as expected.
The people in charge of DC studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, are working on changing things in the DC Universe, but they have not said anything about whether Aquaman or Jason Momoa will be a part of their plans.

In the new Aquaman movie, besides Jason Momoa, we will see Patrick Wilson, Abdul-Mateen, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Temuera Morrison, Willem Dafoe, and Dolph Lundgren again in their previous roles.
Randall Park, who has a small part in the first movie, is back as Dr. Stephen Shin. Also, Vincent Regan, Indya Moore, and Pilou Asbæk are new additions to the cast. James Wan is directing the sequel, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick wrote the script.
The movie is getting a lot of attention because it is the first big project for Amber Heard after a big public trial last year. In the trial, she said that the movie studio reduced her part in the first Acquamna movie because of the problems from her divorce with Johnny Depp. This made her face a lot of online harassment. She mentioned that she got paid $1 million for the first movie and $2 million for the sequel, but her role was made smaller.
However, according to what Wan told Entertainment Weekly, the plan for the “Aquaman” sequel was to mainly show the relationship between Arthur and Orm. He explained that he talked about this idea right from the start. The first “Aquaman” was about the journey of Arthur and Mera together.
The second movie was always meant to focus on the connection between Arthur and Orm. So, the first was like a romantic action adventure, and the second was more like a friendship action adventure. You can see the movie “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” in theatres on December 20, 2023.
