A get-together from “The Devil Wears Prada”!
As part of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt conducted a conversation seventeen years after starring together in the 2006 movie as Meryl Streep’s character Miranda Priestly.
Hathaway, 41, reflected on their initial encounter by saying, “You hadn’t been cast yet. They mentioned, ‘It’s this amazing girl out of England, and she’s so funny,’ when your name was mentioned. And I recall turning as I entered the room to see you. I immediately thought, ‘What a movie star!”
Hathaway, who is presently starring in the independent thriller “Eileen,” continued the conversation by saying, “You were shedding stardust. We then headed to Starbucks. I gave you a tour of my neighborhood.”
The 40-year-old Blunt, star of “Oppenheimer,” said, “I was really inexperienced when I first got there. And you resembled the coziest hug. You treated me like an equal despite the fact that you were a huge movie star at the time. Among the people I’ve known the longest is you. We’ve been friends for eighteen years.”
Emily Blunt reminisced about the film’s production
“We just had an absolute blast making that movie,” Blunt reminisced about the film’s production. None of us, I believe, anticipated it would turn out the way it did. I hear people quote it once a week. The film is the one that has greatly influenced my life.”
Though it has been almost twenty years since Blunt and Hathaway collaborated on “The Devil Wears Prada,” both have indicated that they would be amenable to the notion of re-visiting the cherished movie.
“I would gladly take on [a follow-up] simply to collaborate with those people once more. “It’s really fun,” Blunt said in an appearance on The View in November 2022.
Hathaway told Entertainment Tonight last October at the New York City premiere of her most recent movie, “She Came to Me,” that she would be thrilled to work with the 74-year-old Streep again on another project.
Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep reunion later this year
The Clooney Foundation for Justice’s second-annual event featured an impressive lineup, including the reunion of former “Devil Wears Prada” co-stars Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep after a 17-year break from the beloved movie’s premiere.
At the event, which the foundation describes as a chance to honor “brave individuals who, at great personal risk, have devoted their lives to justice,” the two actresses looked clearly happy as they posed together.
Interestingly, neither of them was wearing blue. Hathaway, forty, chose a vivid green, glistening, strappy Versace floor-length gown with floral appliqués and a silvered checkered pattern.
She accessorized with a diamond necklace, matching earrings, and other silver jewelry for an added touch of glitz, and she accessorized with a silver bag that matched the ensemble and her half-up, half-down hairstyle. The 74-year-old Streep looked equally stunning in a shimmering black sweater with gold accents, matching it with dressy black pants and shoes.
The two former co-stars hugged each other, and photographers caught the endearing moment.
Things you didn’t know about The Devil Wears Prada
Patricia Field, a famous costume designer, was in charge of the movie’s wardrobe, but even with her notoriety, luxury fashion houses were first reluctant to lend items out for fear of possible criticism from Vogue’s powerful figures.
“At first, no well-known designers were willing to appear in the movie. Director David Frankel clarified, “They just didn’t want to offend [editor-in-chief] Anna [Wintour]. “I believe it was Prada that played a crucial role in breaking the ice and reassured that Anna wouldn’t be upset.”
Although there was a drawback to borrowing designer clothes, Streep called the final look in the movie “a miracle,” adding, “We had to be very careful not to eat spaghetti at lunch because it’d go down the front and they couldn’t return it!”
