Yhwach, an overpowered character from the Bleach series created by Tite Kubo. Yhwach is the father of all Quincy and the son of the Soul King. He is insanely strong for a guy who couldn’t speak, talk, or move when he was born. Growing up, he realized that he had the unique ability to share a piece of his soul with someone. This made that person heal instantaneously. But this also attached a piece of that person’s soul to Yhwach’s soul. So he can voluntarily take that piece back and gain a part of the healed person’s powers.
Yhwach was defeated by Genryusai Yamamoto, the Head Captain Commander of all the Gotei 13. He was then sealed away for a thousand years. But after all that time, he finally makes an appearance in the 55th volume of the manga. This will be a list of characters who have a chance at beating Yhwach in battle. However, it won’t be easy for any of them simply because of Yhwach’s Almighty. In that state, he can gain any power he knows about and also become immune to the attacks by that power. This is a frightening ability that makes him one of the strongest anime characters of all time. However, there are still those who can take him on. So without further ado, let’s dive in.
Starting off, we have Zeno. He is a creation of Akira Toriyama in the Dragon Ball series. What does Zeno do? He simply likes to have fun. He has a child-like personality and is completely inconsiderate about life in general. Would he take life away if it’s fun? Yes. Is he evil in particular? No, not really. He is truly a god who does not really care much about anything apart from himself. But being a god, he is insanely powerful. He destroyed the entire multiverse in one timeline. That was him destroying not one but 18 universes. Without having to say much, we can see that he has the power it takes to destroy someone like Yhwach. How the battle would play out, however, is what remains an interesting topic.
We talk about this particular character a lot when it comes to overpowered characters. Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a mind-blowing character. She is unaware of her own powers and appears to be just another school-going kid. However, she is, in fact, a god who created the universe a few years ago out of boredom. She causes insane events to happen, like making aliens exist simply by wishing it. The universe bends to her will. Again, there’s a chance Yhwach goes into Almighty and gets this power from her. But if she takes him down by wishing him out of existence before that, Yhwach is toast.
Next up is the Demon King from The Misfit of Demon King Academy. Anos is somewhat similar to Yhwach in a few ways and not in others. Both of these characters can regenerate themselves from the dead. Except Anos can do it without going into special modes or stages, while Yhwach has to have the Almighty activated. Anos also has a reality-destroying sword. Now, Yhwach was able to steal Yamamoto’s Bankai Zanka no Tanchi. So there remains a chance of him doing the same to Anos. Either way, the battle might end in a stalemate or with Anos winning as he is immortal and literally cannot be killed either.
Lain is a sentient computer program from the twisted anime Serial Experiments Lain. She was meant to be a bridge between reality and the wired world of virtual reality. She tries to blend in with her fellow humans but realizes she’s far different than them. She, too, is a character who is able to alter reality and affect the universe as a whole. She eased herself out of her own timeline and still continued to exist as a goddess assuming her role in the universe. If she can erase herself and still exist, it would be interesting to see Yhwach figure out how to take her down.
3. Tetsuo Shima
Tetsuo is a character from the Devilman series. His powers are different from all the characters mentioned before. It is also possible that he might be able to take down Yhwach seriously. Tetsuo is a psychic. In fact, he’s a psychic so strong that his leaking psychic energies threatened to destroy the whole universe. So he trapped himself away from time and space to prevent that, and guess what? He ended up creating a whole new universe instead—clearly a character of immense stature.
Another interesting match-up would be Yhwach and Alucard. Alucard is a god-like vampire from the Hellsing series. He is basically immortal, having devoured thousands of souls, increasing his own life. Moreover, he can exist everywhere and nowhere at the same time. This makes him a different sort of entry on the list. He can also wish for something to be in a certain way, and by simply believing it, that thing would occur. This is because he consumed Schrodinger, a being who manifested Schrodinger’s cat experiment in the anime. Hence making Alucard everything and nothing at the same time. There’s a chance Yhwach could steal this power, but that would be a problem for him because doing so would also seal away his free will. This also happened to Alucard after consuming Schrodinger. He spent 30 years finding himself before finally coming back to life.
1. Supper Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
And finally, at number 1, we have Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. A machine is bigger than the universe itself. It also has a drill 180 times bigger than its own size. We say STTGL wins based sheerly on its physical prowess. Yhwach wouldn’t even be able to stand a battle in space against such an opponent. The battle cannot be fought anywhere on Earth or Soul Society because of the thing’s sheer size. And so it would end quickly before it even begins.
