Angelina Jolie has asserted that her ex-husband Brad Pitt’s alleged physical abuse towards her began prior to the infamous 2016 plane incident.
Jolie’s legal team made these claims, aiming to reveal communications showing Pitt’s refusal to allow her to sell her stake in their Chateau Miraval winery without signing a restrictive non-disclosure agreement.
The documents state, “While Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him.
The alleged NDA proposed by Pitt reportedly aimed to cover his “personal misconduct, whether related to Miraval or not,” in an effort to prevent Jolie from speaking about his purported abuse.
This included emails and testimony summaries to resolve their child custody dispute. Jolie’s lawyer, Paul Murphy, stated, “Mr. Pitt refused to purchase Ms. Jolie’s interest when she would not be silenced by his NDA.”
He continued, “By refusing to buy her interest but then suing her, Mr. Pitt put directly at issue why that NDA was so important to him and what he hoped it would bury, his abuse of Ms. Jolie and their family, referencing Pitt’s 2022 lawsuit against Jolie for selling her winery shares to another party.
The filing also mentions that Jolie never pressed charges against Pitt, opting instead for him to accept responsibility and help the family recover from the alleged post-traumatic stress. The insider further added that is a pattern that every time she loses, she continues to come back to this.
