Amy Robach and T J Holmes speak about their relationship for the first time on 5 December 2023. They also discussed the hardships they had to face when their romantic relationship was made public.
In the very first episode of the couple’s new venture, Amy & T.J iHeartRadio Podcast, the former Television anchors told the public about their exit from the ABC’s GMA series. Holmes described them as the folks who lost the job they loved since they had a love for each other.
Robach referred to the episode of the podcast as a chance to reveal the real reasons behind their exit. She went on to discuss the difficulties they have faced after they have parted ways with the network. And while Robach described their past year as “hell,” she also added that in the end, everybody is always rooting for love.
Holmes and Robach have lost their jobs as GMA3 anchors, but the two believe that it was worth it for the beautiful relationship they share. The couple sparked speculation that the journalists were engaged in a romantic relationship while legally married to others, as some of their photos went viral.
ABC News officials have addressed the issue and said that they were pulled from their morning show, GMA3, before they left the network. The news president, Kim Godwin, called the matter an internal and external distraction.
Amy & T.J Podcast – The new venture
The Amy & T.J. podcast, in partnership with iHeartMedia, was announced by the couple last month. As per the description of the show by iHeart, it is produced executively by Robach and Holmes. The podcast will explore meaningful conversations about current events, pop culture, and also about the life of the couple.
In addition to hosting and producing, the couple will also collaborate on the upcoming programming for iHeart Podcasts. The first episode of the podcast was all about the couple’s controversial exit from the news channel ABC News.
The first episode of the podcast comes exactly one year after the couple was suspended by the news channel. In November 2022, news about the intimate relationship between the two broke on the internet.
In the podcast, Holmes said that they had decided to part ways with their spouses when Holmes and Robach started dating. But everyone else thought they were cheating their respective partners.
Robach insisted that they were handling the divorce cases when they decided to start dating. She also said that when the snaps of them cozying up were taken, her husband had moved out of the house.
Holmes revealed that he had been living all alone since last summer, and the public and the news channel misunderstood them.
After the outbreak of the relationship, the news channel suspended their show. Robach served the channel and had also served as co-anchor for another show with David Muir. Holmes worked with ABC News for almost eight years, and he has also worked for CNN, BET, and MSNBC.
The couple was planning to discuss their relationships with the news channel management in January 2023. But when their photos were made viral, and their relationship was out to the public, many accused them of cheating. She said that the management, after suspending their show, told them they had become a distraction.
Holmes said in the podcast that he was the happiest and healthiest with Amy at the time. He also said that:
Relationships are hard, they’re messy, they’re not perfect, but we have fought for love, and I can say I have never been happier. I am with my best friend. Bottom line we have not said this. I’m in love with this woman and she’s in love with me and we are planning a life together. A lot of you understand that life, love, marriage, relationships can be messy and usually are
Holmes also said that he could understand his true friends at the time the couple had a downfall. He continued by saying how some people he had not even talked to for years came to support him while the ones he thought to be good friends disappeared after the incident.
Ever since their relationship became public, the couple has started to appear together in events.
