Al Thaman, popularly referred to as “The Price,” is a miniseries from Lebanon. The first episode of the show, which premiered on January 8 of 2023, is currently still ongoing. With Arabic dramas and television series returning to popularity, Al Thaman ticks all the right boxes for a binge-worthy series with its hand – picked cast and gripping plot.
The series, which has over 40 episodes so far, is an adaptation of the Turkish drama “Binbir Gece,” also known as “1001 Nights,” from 2006. The protagonist of Al Thaman is a single mother named Sarah who is fighting a losing battle against her son’s leukemia, for which she desperately requires money.
Synopsis
A divorced mother of a son suffering from leukemia, Sarah puts in a lot of effort each day to support her small family. She switches to numerous jobs to support herself and her son and encounters a string of challenging circumstances before finally joining an architecture firm run by Mr. Ibrahim.
Sarah is upset and unsure of what to do when her son’s condition deteriorates and the bank denies her loan. She ultimately finds herself in a position where she must ask Mr. Ibrahim’s son Zein for financial aid.
Zein agrees to provide Sarah with everything she requires in exchange for her consenting to spend the night with him. Sarah is reluctant at first, but as a mother, she could not bring herself to let go of this opportunity and decided to agree to Zein’s terms.
As Zein learns the genuine cause for Sarah’s urgent need for money, he later regrets his reckless words. When he sees her son in the hospital bed with leukemia, he feels guilty in his heart. Zein tries to mend things with Sarah in an effort to accept responsibility for his harsh behaviour and finds himself falling love her in the process.
Cast
The cast of Al Thaman includes a number of well-known actors and actresses who have demonstrated to be proficient and expressive actors. Famous Arab actors including Razane Jammal, Bassel Khaiat, Nicolas Mouawad, and Sara Abi Kanaan are among the others who appear in it. The main protagonists, Sarah and Zein, have viewers captivated by their chemistry.
Bassel Khayyat
Bassel Khayyat, a well-known Syrian actor, began acting at the tender age of 8. With his vast industry expertise and years of experience, Khayyat gives Al Thaman a distinctiveness that contributes to the shows’ popularity His works Secrets of the City and Women’s Love are both very popular among the Arabs.
Al Thuman’s female lead Sarah, is played by Razane Jammal, a popular Lebanese actress. Like Khayyat, she also began working early in the acting field at the age of 15, with her first film being Carlos. Since then, Razane has starred in many well-known projects including the movie Paranormal and ‘The Sandman’ on Netflix.
