Maikeru recently amped up the stage for everyone who wants to be Shin’uchi in Akane Banashi Chapter 118. The recent performance was one of the best in the series and from one of the most unexpected characters too. Maikeru has been the jester of the group but now he is the young master of his residence with everyone singing his praise.
Things weren’t looking up for Maikeru when he did his first half of the performance during his time on the stage. Everyone had dropped the idea of him giving a proper performance at that point, but what came after shocked them. The Flippant storyteller told one of the serious stories in Rokugo and told it in a manner that moved everyone’s hearts/
When Maikeru came backstage after his performance, his sensei was proud of him unlike the time before. The rest of the group later joined in and explained how they were impressed by his performance but worried for him too. For he had displayed his performance in a way that made everyone tense and worried about his future.
The rest of the chapter focused on Maikeru’s impact on the other characters and how they were dealing with it. Not everyone was happy with what he displayed, some of them were jealous like Kaisei. Then there was Master Zensho who kept up a tough exterior and didn’t let his emotions get the better of him in front of others, but he gave Maikeru an indirect praise regardless.
