Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has released a new trailer for The Cat in the Hat, giving audiences their most detailed look yet at the upcoming animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ beloved children’s classic. The third trailer, released on June 9, 2026, expands the story beyond the familiar premise and reveals a much bigger adventure involving the Cat’s job, a magical device, and a dangerous trip into the world of memories.
Bill Hader voices the iconic Cat, while Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Xochitl Gomez and Tiago Martinez, who voice the siblings Gabby and Sebastian.
The New Trailer Gives the Cat His Biggest Assignment Yet
Rather than simply recreating the events of the 1957 book, The Cat in the Hat gives its title character an entirely new mission. The trailer introduces the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC, where the Cat works as an unconventional agent tasked with helping children.
His track record is far from impressive. His boss reveals that his previous assignments have repeatedly ended in disaster, leaving him with one final chance to prove himself. Failure could cost him his magical hat and potentially his position within the organization.
The trailer also introduces Gabby and Sebastian, siblings attempting to adjust after moving to a new town. The Cat is assigned to help them, but his methods quickly turn the situation into something much more complicated.

The new footage also introduces the Go Backer, a mysterious device that could allow the children to return to an earlier point in their lives.
Sebastian becomes interested in using it to undo the family’s move. However, the search eventually takes the characters into a strange realm constructed from memories.
The trailer describes the location as a world made entirely from memories, opening the door to some of the film’s most visually unusual sequences. The situation becomes even more serious when the characters realize that failing to find the Go Backer could have consequences for the entire universe.
