Adult Swim officially announced an expected release window in 2025 for their newest anime series, Lazarus. First revealed on July 20, 2023, the dark science-fiction series will be helmed by fan-favorite Cowboy Bebop director, Shinichiro Watanabe.
Additionally, the world-renowned animation studio MAPPA, known for Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan (Season 4), will bring this thrilling new story to life.
The sci-fi action thriller not only boasts a stellar director but also features Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the John Wick franchise, as the action director.
According to Adult Swim, the series will consist of 13 episodes. A teaser trailer for the series was shown at Adult Swim’s “Toonami on the Green” at San Diego Comic-Con in the summer of 2023.
While the project was initially slated for release in 2024, it has now been announced that the series is planned to premiere in 2025. Sci-fi fans can look forward to 2025 for Lazarus, the latest project from Cowboy Bebop’s director.

In the utopian year 2052, Dr. Skinner discovered a miracle drug. In 2055, Skinner announces that the drug has a three-year half-life, and soon everyone who took it will die.
A task force of five agents is assembled to locate Skinner and find a vaccine. Its name is “Lazarus.”
