A new update on The Batman – Part II, Matt Reeves’ planned follow-up to the 2022 DC film, has been given by The Batman star Jeffrey Wright. Wright was urged to share as much information as possible about his Part II character when he was talking with Variety about his Oscar-nominated performance in American Fiction.
Sadly, the Jim Gordon actor disclosed that he has yet to receive the highly anticipated sequel’s script, despite his earlier assurance to Variety that he would notify them as soon as he did. “Here’s the beginning, middle, and end laid out for you,” Wright said. “I didn’t read the script before.
The script is not here yet. I’m holding out for you. But what I’ll tell you is… When I receive it, I’ll give you a call. I will forward a copy to you immediately. The hairs on Matt Reeves’s back will stand up in the unlikely event that he hears this.”
Wright also mentioned the Hollywood studios’ preference to keep superhero movie scripts “on lockdown” to keep online spoilers from surfacing. “A paper version of the script for the first one, but they wanted to hold on to it after we were finished [shooting],” he disclosed as the only copy he ever had. These Mission: Impossible self-destructing files would be emailed to us. It’s extreme. It resembles five-step verification.”
