Based on a web novel written by Xiao Lu titled Shi Guang Ru Yue, which roughly translates to “As Promised” in English, A Date with the Future tells the story of Jin Xi Chuan and Xu Lai, who was a high schooler when they had first met. The former had saved the life of the latter, and fate created a bond between the two, allowing them to meet 10 years later.
High school student Xu Lai had barely escaped the clutches of death during a devastating earthquake ten years ago. Her life was saved, all thanks to the fast thinking and bravery of the rookie firefighter Jin Shi Chuan. She instantly fell in love with him after he had saved her from the falling rubbles, and when the two of them parted, she vowed to find him no matter what.
Ten years had passed since that incident, and rookie Shi Chuan had been promoted to Captain while Xu Lian had become a news reporter. Shi Chuan saves the day once more when a chemical factory breaks down in a fire. As Xu Lia rushes to report the incident on site, she immediately recognizes him, but Shi Chuan has no idea who she is.
The situation becomes even worse when her report is misinterpreted, and the whole firefighter department is heavily criticized on social media. Xu Lai’s affection for him has not decreased over time, and she is determined to make amends and win his heart over. She switches her career and starts training dogs as a dog trainer in hopes of helping the firefighters with their job by assisting them with the canines she trained.
This was a step taken by her to get closer to Shi Chuan. Will Xu Lai be able to break down his walls and win him over?
A Date With the Future Episode 18 Recap (Spoilers)
In A Date with the Future Episode 18, we witness turmoil in Xu Lia and Shi Chuan’s relationship. While things had been going well earlier, and the two of them finally believed they could enjoy a happy relationship together, Shi Chuan was met with problems of his own. He was beaten up by gang members when searching for information with Xu Lia and received heavy blows on his body.
Admitted to the hospital, the love between the two only seemed to be growing stronger till Shi Chuan realized his condition was worse than he had anticipated. When he found out about his medical illness, he was afraid of continuing his relationship with Xu Lia, as he believed he was only going to bring her problems by staying with her.
Xu Xia, however, did not give up. She was determined to bring him back to her no matter what he said. Amid their relationship problems, A Date with the Future Episode 19 will witness the confession of Yan Zong’s unrequited love for Xu Lia.
