WWE used a vignette to promote Drew McIntyre’s match at WrestleMania 40 in the most recent RAW episode. The session took on a nostalgic quality that brought back memories of McIntyre’s TNA Wrestling days.
McIntyre made an appearance during RAW in a funeral home scenario, giving a speech next to a coffin. He didn’t hold back, mocking CM Punk’s physical appearance and criticizing him for missing WrestleMania 40. Seth Rollins was singled out by McIntyre as well, characterizing him as shattered and close to losing.
It’s interesting that WWE picked the same location that TNA Wrestling had previously used for matches of a similar nature. Fans speculated about whether Jeremy Borash, who collaborated with TNA on earlier parts, had recommended the location for WWE’s segment in response to this move.
Fans, however, found the throwback allusion endearing and are now looking forward to McIntyre and Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Title showdown at WrestleMania 40.
