The television show Love During Lockup has announced that the second season will start airing soon. Dealing with relationships between inmates and non-convicts, the show is a look into the life of such bonds that require facing hurdles that don’t usually exist in a normal relationship. Catfishing, Misunderstandings, Cheating, and drama are often some of the challenges we see in the series.
We TV, who also airs Love After Lockup, made this as a spin-off to the original series. Instead of people finding love after prison release, this show aims to focus on relationships with inmates who are still serving time. If we know anything from the first season, it is that these relationships can’t be trusted.
The second season will premiere on October 21, 2022. With new couples as well as old ones that the audience loved, this season is going to be filled with much more scandals and unhealthy relationships.
Love During Lockup: Love Beyond Bars
Justice is blind, and so is love. Pen pal websites were launched as a way for inmates to find solace and comfort during their stay in harsh environments. This led to widespread prison relationships, and though most of them are genuine, some are just ways to manipulate for cash or release.
In the first season, Haley and Indie went through the worst relationship of their life when their prison inmate, who they had worked so hard on, just ended up cheating or leaving them. Gabby and Chris seemed to have a good relationship until earlier this year, they posted updates suggesting they broke up. Chris reportedly became physically abusive as well.
We can only hope to see better relationships this season and genuine efforts from both sides. The cast is mostly new, with only one old couple. The faces that’ll be seeing this season are Tai and Hottie, Chelsea and Mike, Emily and Dauri, Melissa and Louie, and then finally, Jessica and Dustin. Two mysterious couples also exist, but they haven’t been revealed as of yet.
Tai and Hottie are the old couples who were toxic to each other, but it looks like they found the antidote to their relationship as Tai is seen to be talking about a wedding with Hottie soon. Tai is also in a relationship with multiple other men.
Chelsea and Mike seem to have met each other on Facebook. Chelsea is deaf and dumb, and it looks like Mike learned sign language just to be able to communicate with her. From the trailer, it looks like Mike has been involved in a homicide, which Chelsea only knows after they start dating.
Emily and Dauri are other couples who just seem to be scamming each other. Emily has a masters in criminal justice, so she’s the last person you’d expect to be dating a criminal. Melissa met Dauri when she was working as a mail carrier and was interested in having a pen pal of her own. Louie used to be her high school crush, and when she found out he was in jail, Melissa knew she had found the right pen pal.
Jessica met her convicted lover when she was working as a nurse at the Jail. She quit her high-paying job just to be with Dustin but it looks like her family is extremely against it.
To see how romance, suspicion, and drama brew between these couples, tune in this Friday to watch the Love During Lockups exclusive airing that’ll start this week.
