Our mind can play perplexing tricks on us, and that’s what the “I Can See Your Voice” is here to prove once again. This Musical game show will return to BBC One this week with much more stunning performances that can be both real and counterfeit. The series is inspired by the Mnet production “Neoui moksoriga boyeo,” which deals with the same format.
The Korean show was popular enough to cause a US adaptation as well. There were controversies that ICSYV was inspired by an existing show in Turkey, but those were resolved, and now the Franchise has around 28 adaptations of the show.
Over the years, ICSYV and its counterparts from other countries have served as a platform for aspiring singers to exhibit their talent. The first season was able to successfully deliver hidden gems of the music genre, and it’s no surprise that it was announced to have a second installment before the first one had ended.
I Can See Your Voice: The Way The Game goes
The Musical game consists of various rounds. It will present 3-6 random people with different backgrounds. The contestants, two for each game, are a pair of normal people with well-known personalities. Both of these contestants will together have to guess who out of those all those people is a bad singer and who sings rather well.
A celebrity panel also exists to guide them using their years of experience in the same industry. That doesn’t mean they are always right, as looks can be deceiving. The singers can also fake their introductions to make it harder for the contestants.
The game itself consists of 4 rounds, each letting the contestants get closer to finding out the real singers. The first round is the Visual Round. This round consists of videos of the singers, but all of them are muted or modified. They are allowed to listen to short parts and are also given hints about them. Singers are also asked to play bad and a good video of them singing, and only one of them is the real one.
The Next Round is the Lip Sync round, where the singers will lip sync to a song, but it can either be their recording or a recording of someone else who sings well. The Contestants will have to guess if they were the owner of the voice.
The third round of the game has been introduced through the second season, and it involves the display of evidence. The celebrities and the contestants will get a chance to view the singer’s life and gather hints from them.
This is followed by the final round, The Interrogation. Any one of the Singers is questioned from a list of all sorts of questions displayed on the screen. Once all the rounds end, the final mystery singer left is then asked to perform a duet with the guest star.
This ends up revealing if they are good or just bluffing. If the contestants guess correctly, they can win £10,000, and if it ends up being wrong, the Bad singer will take home the prize.
