To Become a Real Heroine! The Unpopular Girl and the Secret Task Episode 11 is well on its way to being released, here is everything you need to know about the upcoming release of “Battle of the Hated Heroine”. To Become a Real Heroine! The Unpopular Girl and the Secret Task or Heroines Run The Show has been one of the popular shoujo releases of 2022. One of the main reasons the series is getting popularity might be because of how rare it is to find a female protagonist of an anime to be designed to not have conventionally attractive physical features.
This is why heroines like Hiyori from Heroines Run the Show are such a breath of fresh air. She’s short, unkempt, and sporting massive bushy brows. She’s a figure that many young girls will recognize: awkward at times, yet passionate and lovable in all the right ways.
When a character in the series is attracted to her, the attraction is clearly based on her personality rather than her physical looks. This is especially refreshing for a series aimed at young females, as much shojo anime tend to focus solely on the heroine’s beauty.
Recap of Episode 10
Titled “I’m Quittin’ My Manager Job!”, Episode 10 of To Become a Real Heroine! The Unpopular Girl and the Secret Task was released on June 9, 2022.
The beginning of the episode starts with a gossip news channel reporting that apparently, the members of LIPxLUP are dating some girls. It turns out all the blurred images of the “mystery girl” are actually pictures of Hiyori with the duo. Aizo and Yujiro comfort her by saying that she need not be apologetic as the one who should be in big trouble would be the one who posted their pictures, nonetheless, Hiyori is a bit anxious.
Meanwhile, things with the school administration turn out well for the three as Akechi-sensei comforts them by saying that they were expecting something like this to happen and that it’s not their fault at all, children should have a right to learn, and that the school will handle the consequences while they are in the premises.
Yujiro and Aizo come to a conclusion that the perp is likely a girl from their school who posted those photos out of jealousy toward Hiyori’s relationship with the two idols. The leaked photos affect the overall atmosphere of the school, Hiyori clearly knows what everyone is saying behind their backs about her, however, she doesn’t mind it, grateful for her two friends, Juri and Chizuru, but at the same time, she also feels guilty because she cannot tell her about her job as manager-in-training for LIPxLIP.
The thing is, this incident actually does get to her, especially when she sees all the negative comments about her on social media, and the blow only deepens when LIPxLIP’s agency has to apologize to the brands sponsoring them. She can’t help but feel extremely guilty when she learns that the idols will probably lose some gigs in the near future.
During the agency meeting, Koichiro, Yujiro’s brother, shows up with a plan to track down the fan who likely posted the pictures on the school bulletin board, however, Hiyori is totally opposed to this, she exclaims that it’s not the correct move to blame a fan, who has always supported the idol duo, she says that they should look for a way to make fans happy instead of looking for the culprit.
Hiyori comes to the conclusion that if she has disappointed the fans of the group, then she has failed as a manager, so she decides to quit the position. Aizo and Yujiro are obviously upset with this decision, but they try to keep their cool. Later, we see that the duo are actually finally able to say what they truly intended to.
They hold a media conference and talk about how the girl in the photos is their friend, and they are very apologetic to her for dragging her into this media mess. When asked why they still go to high school regularly even when they have jobs, both the boys sincerely answer that the CEO of their company wanted them to enjoy high school and to live the teenage life they deserve.
In the end, everyone turns out well, with LIPxLIP gaining more fans, sponsors, and feedback from people saying that they support the idols’ school life, Hiyori is very glad to hear all this, and Mayu mentions that this would not have been possible without her help.
The whole take on the episode is about the hardships idols actually face when it comes to their personal lives. The episode discusses the many nuances of para-social relationships between celebrities and fans, the many restrictions in the idol industry, and how toxic online fandom can be sometimes. All the message is pretty surface-level, but the show put an effort to mention such topics was good enough.
