In a shocking turn of events, popular comedian Dave Chappelle was recently attacked during an ongoing stage performance. As the comedian was performing at the Netflix is a Joke festival at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, a fan suddenly stormed the stage and tackled Chappelle. As the comedian was attacked midway during his set, Jamie Foxx and security soon intervened to detain him.
It was later reported that Chappelle’s security was punching and kicking the attacker after he was caught by them. Dave later gave a huge shout-out to Foxx during the curtain call. Dave further said that whenever one is in trouble, Jamie Foxx will show up in a sheriff’s hat! Foxx praised the comedian as he called him an absolute genius and wanted to make sure that everyone protected him at all times!

Although Chappelle was attacked, thankfully, the comedian was uninjured and went on with his show set and even joked about it, stating that the attacker was a ‘trans man’. Chappelle came under fire as he sparked some major outrage in the trans community after making a few controversial comments in a Netflix show.

Chris Rock also performed and might have taken an indirect diss at Will Smith as he joked that the attacker was Will Smith, which was a reference to the Oscars’ slap gate’ incident! While Rock has mostly kept quiet on the controversial slap issue, he did admit that he is still ‘processing’ what happened. The Oscars incident even raised concern amongst members of the comedy community, as Jack Whitehall and Kathy Griffin voiced their fears about performers no longer being safe on stage.
Jimmy Carr later shared a selfie taken with Dave Chappelle and described his Los Angeles show as crazy as he tweeted with a caption, “The Hollywood Bowl show with the legendary Dave Chappelle was crazy,” and further said that he is happy that everyone is okay. It was the first-ever live Netflix comedy festival as several A-Listers, including Seth Rogen, Snoop Dogg, Bill Burr, and Pete Davidson, performed.
