The timeless tale of love, memory, and fleeting moments may soon return to the big screen — this time with a Korean twist. Rising stars Choo Young Woo and Shin Si Ah are currently in discussions to lead the Korean remake of the 2022 Japanese hit romance film, Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight, sparking excitement among fans of emotionally rich storytelling.
On April 17, Sports Chosun reported that both actors are in talks to headline the remake, which is expected to begin filming in June 2025. Choo Young Woo’s agency, J,WIDE-COMPANY, confirmed that he is “positively reviewing” the offer, while Shin Si Ah’s agency, ANDMARQ, shared that she is “currently in discussions” after receiving the role.
Based on Ichijo Misaki’s novel of the same name, the original Japanese film struck a deep chord with audiences for its heartbreaking but hopeful portrayal of a high school romance entangled with tragedy.

It tells the story of a girl suffering from anterograde amnesia, a rare condition where she forgets everything each time she falls asleep, and a boy living with a terminal heart condition.
Despite their fading and fragile lives, they find solace and meaning in each other’s presence — if only briefly.
In the Korean adaptation, Choo Young Woo has reportedly been offered the role of Kim Jae Won, a teenager emotionally detached from the world due to a hereditary heart disease.
Facing the looming shadow of his own mortality, Jae Won moves through life without ambition or color — until he meets Han Seo Yoon, portrayed by Shin Si Ah, a girl with an unrelentingly bright spirit, even as her mind resets with each sunrise.
Seo Yoon, who is described as radiant and optimistic despite her amnesia, begins to miraculously retain pieces of her memory — with Jae Won at the center of those fragments.
What unfolds is a story filled with ephemeral beauty and aching sincerity, where every day counts, and love is reborn with each meeting.
This poignant remake will be directed by Kim Hye Young, known for her sensitive storytelling in the recent film IT’S OKAY!.
The Korean film industry has seen a recent trend of adapting Japanese literary and cinematic works, but this project stands out thanks to its already-established emotional legacy and box office success — the original 2022 film drew over 1.21 million viewers in Korea alone, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese romance film in Korean cinema history.
With two promising leads whose recent performances have drawn acclaim — Choo Young Woo in Oasis, and Shin Si Ah in Resident Playbook — fans are already buzzing about the chemistry and depth they could bring to such roles.
Both actors are recognized for their ability to portray vulnerability and quiet strength, making them ideal for a narrative built on emotional nuance and inner transformation.
Production is expected to begin in summer 2025, and though casting is not yet finalized, anticipation is already building.
If confirmed, the remake could become one of the year’s most talked-about romance films, not only for its tragic love story but for its powerful meditation on memory, connection, and the impermanence of life.
As fans await more updates, one thing is certain: this is a love story that won’t easily disappear from memory — even if the world changes overnight.
