Wink Martindale, the beloved television personality known for hosting iconic game shows like Tic-Tac-Dough and Gambit, has passed away at the age of 91.
He died on April 15, 2025, surrounded by his family and his wife of 49 years, Sandra Martindale, at their home in Rancho Mirage, California.
Martindale’s career in entertainment spanned decades, beginning as a disc jockey in Jackson, Tennessee, when he was just 17 years old.
His most famous moment as a DJ was when he helped Elvis Presley secure his first radio interview after the release of “That’s All Right.”
Martindale went on to become a central figure in the world of game shows, hosting several popular programs such as Words and Music, High Rollers, The Great Getaway Game, and Trivial Pursuit.

He was also known for his philanthropic efforts, including creating telethons for causes like Cerebral Palsy and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
