Jane (Nicole Brydon Bloom) fooled everyone in Paradise. When she killed Billy Pace (Jon Beavers) in Episode 4, “Agent Billy Pace,” on Sinatra’s (Julianne Nicholson) orders, we should have realized she was capable of deception. However, we believed she was just following orders, not acting on her own. It seemed like she had no choice but to obey Sinatra.
We expected that Jane would eventually realize she was not as powerful as she thought. Maybe she would lose everything and regret her choices. Some of us even thought she might redeem herself in the end.
However, the season finale, “The Man Who Kept the Secrets,” changes that idea completely. Jane does not belong to either Sinatra’s side or Xavier’s (Sterling K. Brown) side. Instead, she shows a terrifying level of selfishness. She betrays Sinatra for a reason that seems small, but it proves she only cares about herself.
Jane is not just someone following orders. She is not just another villain. She is a real threat. While others are focused on bigger battles, she moves quietly, and no one sees her coming.

Jane Turns Against Sinatra for Her Own Reasons
In the latest episode of Paradise, Jane’s actions take an unexpected turn. At first, it seems like she will kill Presley (Aliylah Mastin) after kidnapping her in Episode 6, “You Asked For Miracles.”
Sinatra does not know what to do with Presley, and Jane interprets this as permission to kill her. After this, she casually asks if she can have Cal’s (James Marsden) Wii. She and Billy used to play with it, and she wants it for herself.
Sinatra refuses, which seems to annoy Jane. She ends the call quickly and lies to Sinatra, texting her that the problem has been “eliminated.” This makes it look like Jane is just following orders, like she always has.
However, Jane makes an unexpected move. Instead of staying loyal to Sinatra, she shoots her when Xavier holds a gun to her head. At first, it seems like Jane has switched sides. She tells Xavier that Presley is “safe,” making it look like she wants to help him. But then, she coldly tells Sinatra, “You are no use to me dead.”
This proves that Jane has her own goals. No one can predict what she will do next. The way she explains her actions is unclear. If Presley was truly safe, then why did Sinatra tell Xavier that she had been killed? That part of the story is still a mystery.
Jane’s ability to survive despite all these contradictions is shocking. Her connection to Billy should have raised suspicions, but somehow, she escapes any real consequences. Maybe the next season will reveal how she gets away with this. For now, her reasons for betraying Sinatra are far more concerning.
Jane’s Reason for Betraying Sinatra Is Deeply Disturbing
Jane’s motivation in this episode seems strange. She betrays Sinatra right after she is denied Cal’s Wii. Later, she tells Sinatra that she should have just given it to her.
There are two possible explanations for why Jane wants the Wii so badly. Maybe it reminds her of happier times with Billy. Perhaps playing games with him was one of the few moments she truly enjoyed.
However, there is another, more disturbing way to look at this. When Jane killed Billy, she mocked him. She repeated his words about sending the “biggest motherf*cker” Sinatra had. This suggests she never really cared about Billy. She just enjoyed the Wii, whether he was there or not.
If this second explanation is true, it makes Jane a much darker character than we thought. Killing someone over a video game console proves she does not care about human life. She is willing to sacrifice anyone for something as small as a game.
Before this episode, it seemed like Jane followed Sinatra for power or resources. It looked like she wanted to build a life where she was in control. But this episode proves otherwise. She does not crave power in the traditional sense. She just wants to do what she enjoys, and she does not care who gets hurt along the way.
Jane Might Be the Biggest Threat in Paradise Season 2
Many viewers believed Jane was just a minor villain. It seemed like she would only act when she received orders. However, this finale shows she is much more dangerous.
Now that Sinatra is out of the way, Jane is free to act on her own. Xavier has left the bunker to find his wife, which creates a power vacuum. Jane now has the perfect opportunity to take control.
Her ability to manipulate others makes her an even bigger danger. People like Jeremy (Charlie Evans) and Robinson (Krys Marshall) do not know the real Jane. They might trust her when they should not. Her unpredictable nature puts everyone at risk.
Even if Xavier succeeds in finding his wife, Jane could still ruin everything. If he brings survivors back to the bunker, Jane could become a serious obstacle. She has already proven that she will betray anyone for her own benefit. There is no reason to believe she would stop now.
The Final Moments of Paradise Season 1 Hint at What’s Coming
The final moments of Paradise Season 1 suggest that Jane will play an even bigger role in the next season.
The show makes a direct comparison between Jane and Xavier. The second-to-last shot shows Jane playing on her Wii. The final shot shows Xavier leaving in his jet. This suggests that they are on opposite sides and may eventually face each other.
This episode proves that Jane is not just an ordinary villain. She does not kill for power or revenge. She kills for her own amusement. She is unpredictable, dangerous, and completely self-serving.
There are many threats in Paradise, from billionaires to dangerous outsiders. However, Jane is the one no one sees coming. She could be the reason everything falls apart in the future.
