It has been two and a half years since Stranger Things Season 4 introduced its most dangerous villain yet, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Fans have been waiting for the next chapter, and the wait has been long.
However, the Duffer Brothers have now officially confirmed that Stranger Things Season 5 will premiere on Netflix before the end of the year. The exact release date is still unknown.
Details about the final season’s story remain secret, but the cast has hinted that this will be the most intense season yet. Recently, Jamie Campbell Bower attended a panel at MegaCon Orlando, where he shared his thoughts on working on Stranger Things Season 5.

Jamie Campbell Bower Reflects on His Experience
Bower described his final days on set as a strange and emotional experience. He shared how exhausted he felt after filming his last scene.
“Yeah, it was really weird. It was just odd. Yeah, I had a few final days. Somebody took a photo of me after we finished the last scene, and I just looked like a man that’s just been carrying so much weight for so long, and it’s just been like there you go,” he said.
Bower admitted that saying goodbye to the character was difficult. He had spent years thinking about Vecna, even during the long break between seasons. The actor expressed that while he was sad to leave, he was also ready to move forward.
Bower only joined Stranger Things in Season 4, yet he felt deeply connected to the series. The original cast has worked together for over a decade, so their farewell will likely be even more emotional. The younger actors have grown up with the show and will always be linked to their roles, no matter what other projects they take on.
What to Expect from Vecna in Season 5
Bower avoided revealing any spoilers about Vecna’s role in the final season but hinted that he had some powerful moments.
“And I think with season five, you know, there were moments where I was like, really worried and just kind of pushing through,” he said. He explained that some scenes were so intense that the entire room went silent after filming.
He also shared that he tried to stay focused on the present rather than thinking too much about the final outcome. “All I can do right now is just focus on what I’m up to at this moment, you know, rather than the end product,” he added.
Vecna was originally Henry Creel, a boy with psychic abilities who later turned into a powerful villain. He worked with Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) before embracing his dark side. In Season 4, he nearly killed Max (Sadie Sink), leaving her in critical condition. Fans are eager to see what he plans for Hawkins in Season 5.
Will There Be Spin-Offs?
Netflix has not officially announced any spin-offs, but the Duffer Brothers have shared their thoughts on the possibility. In a 2022 interview with Collider, they mentioned that they want to pass the story on to new creators instead of working on Stranger Things for another decade.
Since Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s most successful shows, it seems likely that future projects will happen. The real question is not if they will happen, but when.
Stranger Things Season 5 will be released later this year. Stay tuned to Otakukart for more updates and watch the show exclusively on Netflix.
