Streaming platform Hulu has officially confirmed that Dragon Ball Daima will consist of 20 episodes. Although rumors about the series’ length circulated in late 2024, neither Toei Animation nor Bird Studio addressed them.
Even Akio Iyoku, an executive producer for the Dragon Ball franchise, avoided revealing the episode count during his appearance on the “All Night Nippon – Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary Special.” However, Iyoku hinted at exciting announcements for Dragon Ball fans in 2025, possibly teasing either a continuation of Daima or a return to Dragon Ball Super.
A Tribute to Toriyama’s Vision
Dragon Ball Daima marks the final animated project that Akira Toriyama worked on before his untimely passing in March 2024. The series, released in celebration of the Dragon Ball franchise’s 40th anniversary, now carries extra weight for fans as a tribute to Toriyama’s creative legacy.
However, questions remain about how much of Daima’s story Toriyama planned before his passing and whether the series’ will hint at future adventures for Goku and friends. Despite these uncertainties, Iyoku and the Dragon Ball team appear committed to moving forward, as evidenced by the highly anticipated return of the Dragon Ball Super manga.
Regardless of whether Dragon Ball Daima receives a second season, there’s no shortage of exciting content for fans. Toei Animation recently announced a major update for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, themed around the hit anime film Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Additionally, fans can look forward to plenty of new merchandise, including the Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta figure and Goku-inspired Crocs.
New episodes of Dragon Ball Daima air weekly on Crunchyroll, with the English dub premiering every Wednesday since January 10. The series follows Goku and friends, mysteriously shrunk down due to a conspiracy tied to the Demon Realm. As they seek answers, a young Majin named Glorio enters their lives, kicking off a thrilling new adventure.
With Dragon Ball Daima nearing its finale, fans continue to celebrate Toriyama’s enduring legacy while looking forward to the franchise’s evolving future. Whether through manga updates, exciting merchandise, or potential new anime projects, Dragon Ball remains a beloved cornerstone of anime culture worldwide.
