Popular YouTuber Kian84, whose real name is Kim Hee Min, has sparked controversy with a misogynistic remark he made during a recent video uploaded to his YouTube channel.
On January 16, Kian84 posted a video featuring actress Seo Ji Seung, in which the two discussed various topics while Kian84 accompanied Seo on her way to work.
During their conversation, Seo, who is married to actor Lee Si Eon, shared that she prepares breakfast for her husband.
Kian84 responded by expressing admiration for this gesture, stating that men are obsessed with breakfast, but clarified that the real importance lies in the feeling of being protected by one’s spouse, rather than the food itself.
However, things took a turn when Kian84 made a problematic comment about women. He suggested that if a wife does not make breakfast for her husband, she might be inclined to have an affair with a “muscular bachelor” at a swimming pool or a “young trainer” at the gym.
This comment took Seo by surprise, prompting her to ask if he had witnessed such a situation, to which he responded by saying he had read many “scary articles” online.
The remark has since gone viral on social media and sparked widespread criticism. Netizens quickly expressed their outrage, questioning whether Kian84 viewed wives as mere housekeepers and implying that he believed it was a wife’s duty to make breakfast for her husband.
This is not the first time Kian84 has been accused of misogyny. In 2020, his webtoon Bok Hak Wang came under fire for its sexist portrayal of a female character, further adding to the backlash surrounding his views on women.
His most recent comments have reignited the conversation about his attitudes toward women, with many netizens demanding accountability for his remarks.
