Influencer Candice Miller, known for her social media presence, is reportedly struggling financially after the death of her husband, Brandon Miller, earlier this year. Candice recently filed legal documents revealing that her husband left behind a massive debt of $33.6 million at the time of his death in July.
According to the court papers obtained by The New York Times on December 27, Candice claims that she is now facing the aftermath of her husband’s financial troubles. She reportedly has only $8,000 in her bank account and is unable to repay Brandon’s extensive loans. Candice further revealed that Brandon died without leaving a will, complicating matters for her and their family.
Brandon, a property developer, tragically died by suicide this past summer. The news of his passing was initially followed by Candice’s decision to deactivate her social media accounts. However, in the recent court filing, she disclosed that Brandon’s debts included over $20 million in unsecured loans from various financial institutions, including UBS Bank, BMO Bank, and American Express.
Despite the devastating financial burden, Candice has also benefitted from $15 million in life insurance policies that Brandon held. In addition, she recently sold their shared home in December. Candice, however, claimed in her court documents that she was unaware of the dire financial situation before Brandon’s passing.
Candice has yet to publicly comment on the ongoing court proceedings, with the Times reporting that she declined to make a statement. The couple’s family spokesperson expressed how Candice is still reeling from the loss of her partner and how the impact of his death has deeply affected their two young daughters.
Brandon, 43, was discovered unconscious at the couple’s Hamptons estate in New York. At the time, a family spokesperson stated that Candice was heartbroken by the loss of her “soul mate,” and the death of Brandon would forever change the lives of their two daughters.
In September, Candice faced additional legal troubles when she was sued for $195,000 in unpaid rent on their Manhattan condominium. Documents obtained by Us Weekly indicated that Candice had failed to pay the rent. However, her legal team has argued that she should not be held responsible for the debt, as her name was never on the lease agreement for the apartment.
Candice and Brandon’s marriage began in 2009, and together, they raised two daughters. Their family life had previously been shared on Candice’s now-closed blog, “Mama & Tata.” In a 2019 interview with Mini Magazine, Candice described her family’s close bond, emphasizing the importance of spending quality time together.
Despite their extravagant lifestyle, Candice and Brandon were committed to teaching their daughters the value of kindness and compassion. Candice often spoke about her desire to raise strong, independent girls who would grow up to be confident, loving, and true to themselves. She expressed her hopes for them to be fearless in pursuing their dreams and to always feel supported in all that they do.
