The story is set in the summer of 2020 and follows Nishino Mizuha, a high school second-year student who feels her seventeenth birthday couldn’t get any worse.
Her day is filled with disappointments her parents forget her birthday, she’s unable to approach her senior crush, and her school life has been disrupted by a global pandemic.
With her club tournaments and trips canceled, she believes her dreams of an exciting youth are out of reach.
However, things take a sudden turn when her childhood friend Kizuki confesses his feelings for her and offers to be her boyfriend.
This unexpected development shakes up Mizuha’s life, introducing a mix of confusion, excitement, and hope. It’s the start of a new chapter for her as she handles emotions she hadn’t considered before.
The anime focuses on Mizuha and her relationships with her four childhood friends, who have always been like family to her.
The group dynamics and their long-standing bonds form the heart of the story. While Mizuha sees the boys as siblings, the romantic undertones of Kizuki’s confession add layers of complexity to their interactions.
This coming-of-age tale blends school life, romance, and the struggles of a generation affected by global events.
As Mizuha comes to terms with her feelings and discovers what she truly wants, Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You promises to deliver a heartfelt exploration of youth, friendship, and first love.
Fans can look forward to a relatable and emotional journey when the anime premieres next year.
