The popular CBS and Paramount+ drama series Tracker is back, and this season has started off strong. Colter Shaw (played by Justin Hartley), who works as a rewardist, is now on a mission in the woods of Arkansas. He is searching for the missing family of a man named Craig King (Erik Gow).
While Colter seems to work alone, he actually has a team that supports him. This becomes clear in the first episode of Tracker’s second season. Colter gets a lot of help from legal expert Reenie (played by Fiona Rene), his handler Velma (Abby McEnany), and his hacker friend Bobby (Eric Graise).
At the beginning of Season 2, we see Reenie painting her new office. She is a talented lawyer who has decided to open her own law firm after quitting her previous job at the end of Season 1. Fiona Rene, who plays Reenie, spoke with Screen Rant about how this decision will affect her character’s journey in Season 2.
While hinting that fans will see more of Reenie, Rene highlighted that her character is also searching for independence. Rene shared her thoughts:
“I think in the very beginning it’s clear that she wants her identity to be somewhat not attached to Colter and not attached to her old job, her old firm, where it felt like, in my mind, that all these men were telling her what to do, and she was like, ‘I’ve had enough. I’m going to open up my own and tell myself what to do as a woman.'”
Rene explained that Reenie is trying to separate herself from Colter and her old job. She wants to make her own decisions and not be influenced by others, especially men.
While she is taking steps to be on her own, she still wants to help Colter. Their friendship continues to grow stronger. In Season 2, viewers will see more of Reenie in her office and in the field.
Now that Reenie is running her own business, she has more time to work with Velma, played by McEnany. Velma is now Colter’s only handler, following the departure of Robin Weigert, who played Teddi Bruin. With Teddi gone, Reenie and Velma will be working closely together, a change that’s already noticeable in the first episode of the new season.
A New Romance on the Horizon?
Season 1 of Tracker didn’t have much focus on romantic relationships, except for Teddi and Velma. However, Season 2 introduces a potential love interest for Colter. Fans noticed some chemistry between Reenie and Colter, and Rene spoke about the possibility of them becoming a couple.
She said, “I mean, I love him, but do you expect me to live in a trailer? [Laughs] You know what I mean? I think that there’s so much love there, but I also think that she would never live on the road. You’ve got two people who are so unapologetically themselves that I can’t imagine how it would work, but who knows?”
Tracker Season 2 airs Sundays at 8 PM ET on CBS and is available the next day on Paramount+.
