Matthew Fox, known for his role in Lost, is back on TV with his new project, The Assassin. This drama series is based on Tom Wood’s well-known Victor the Assassin Series. After last year’s CAUGHT*, which was only shown in Australia, Fox’s new series is currently being made at Max. He is also working as an executive producer.
The show is from John Glenn, who helped create the popular military drama SEAL Team. The Assassin tells the story of Victor, played by Fox, a ruthless assassin.
After a mission goes wrong, Victor finds out a secret client betrayed him. He is chased around the world by enemies, including CIA agents and another deadly assassin. Victor starts a revenge mission to find the person who set him up. As he fights for survival, his buried humanity begins to come out, which might be his biggest threat.
Production is being handled by Gaumont and Entertainment 360, the same company behind the hit mini-series Ripley, which is up for 13 Emmy Awards, and The Fall Guy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
If The Assassin wins over Max subscribers, it could have a long run, thanks to its source material that includes 11 novels and 2 short stories. Glenn will be the showrunner and executive producer, working with author Wood and Fox.
Matthew Fox’s Post-Lost Career
Matthew Fox gained fame as Jack Shepherd on Lost. After the show ended, his career had ups and downs. His films Alex Cross and Emperor didn’t do well at the box office. Although he had a small role in the hit movie World War Z, it didn’t boost his career much.
Fox took a break from acting to focus on his personal life but returned in 2022 with a role in the Peacock limited series Last Light. His performance was strong, but the show had its own problems.
Fox’s comeback is still waiting for a major success, and hopefully, The Assassin will be the project that brings him back to the spotlight.
The Assassin does not have a release date yet, but updates will be shared soon.
