At Anime Expo, a stage event for the Blue Exorcist franchise revealed a new trailer and key visual for Ao no Exorcist: Yuki no Hate-hen, titled Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga in English. The trailer features Reol’s opening theme song “Re Rescue.”
Returning staff members include director Daisuke Yoshida, scriptwriter Toshiya Ono, character designer and chief animation director Yurie Oohigashi, and composers Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano.
The new anime will span two cours (quarters of a year), with Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga premiering in October 2024, followed by Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga in January 2025. Crunchyroll will stream the anime as it airs.
This anime serves as a sequel to Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga, which debuted in Japan on January 6. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with an English dub.
Blue Exorcist Anime Returns with Star-Studded Team and New Theme Songs by UVERworld
Directed by Daisuke Yoshida at Studio VOLN, with Toshiya Ono overseeing the series scripts, Yurie Oohigashi as character designer and chief animation director, and music by Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano. The opening theme song “Eye’s Sentry” is performed by the rock band UVERworld, and Mulasaki-Ima performs the ending theme “Gakkyū Nisshi” (Class Diary).
Kazue Katō launched the Blue Exorcist manga in Jump SQ. in 2009, which has over 25 million copies in circulation. Viz Media publishes the manga in English, describing Rin Okumura’s journey as he discovers his demonic heritage and trains as an exorcist at True Cross Academy.
The manga inspired a 25-episode TV anime in 2011, along with the Blue Exorcist: Kuro Runs Away From Home OAV. The Blue Exorcist movie premiered in Japan in December 2012, followed by the Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga TV anime in 2017, spanning 12 episodes.
