Bandai Namco Filmworks revealed a new key visual and trailer for Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom, a feature-length VR anime produced in collaboration with Atlas V for Meta Quest, announced during Anime Expo. The anime is set for release this fall.
Shōko Nakagawa performs the film’s theme song “Across the World.” Directed by Kenichi Suzuki and written by Ryōji Sekinishi, the anime features character designs by Tsukasa Kotobuki and mechanical designs by Mika Akitaka. Yoshiya Ikeda handles the music composition, with Sadayoshi Fujino as the sound director. Atlas V and Bandai Namco Filmworks are jointly producing the VR anime.
First introduced by Pierre Zandrowicz and Ken Iyadomi at Anime NYC, the project promises an interactive, “immersive adventure” experience. Zandrowicz emphasized, “This is not a game, nor is it just a narrative experience—it’s an immersive adventure that leverages the best of both worlds.” This collaboration marks Sunrise’s first venture with a French company, Atlas V.
Set in the Universal Century 0096, the anime is part of Bandai Namco Filmworks’ expanding Gundam projects, including Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, a series of six 30-minute episodes slated to stream worldwide on Netflix this fall.
Produced entirely with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5 by Sunrise and Safe House, this project is another highlight among recent Gundam announcements.
Additionally, Sunrise Beyond launched Gundam Build Metaverse, a three-episode anime celebrating the Gundam Build franchise’s 10th anniversary, on October 6. The initiative aims to promote Bandai Namco Entertainment’s broader “Gundam Metaverse” endeavor.
