Bronny James, linked to the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft, has garnered attention for his workouts with both teams. Phoenix, seeking a point guard after Chris Paul’s departure, is among those showing interest in James, adding intrigue to his draft prospects.
NBA insider Marc Stein suggests that Bronny James remains on the Phoenix Suns’ radar for the second round of the draft, despite the team being linked to multiple prospects for their No. 22 pick.
“The Suns, by the way, continue to be mentioned as a team with interest in drafting Bronny James, who is projected as a second-round selection in Thursday’s portion of the draft”, Marc Stein said.
The Phoenix Suns are reportedly considering trading down to acquire more draft picks, even though they currently lack a second-round pick.
There were speculations that drafting Bronny James could influence LeBron James’ decision, but agent Rich Paul swiftly dismissed those rumors.
“LeBron is off this idea of having to play with Bronny,” Paul said previously.
“If he does, he does. But if he doesn’t, he doesn’t. There’s no deal made that it’s guaranteed that if the Lakers draft Bronny at 55, he [LeBron] will re-sign. If that was the case, I would force them to take him at 17. We don’t need leverage.
The Lakers can draft Bronny, and LeBron doesn’t re-sign. LeBron is also not going to Phoenix for a minimum deal. We can squash that now.”
Indeed, the draft will reveal whether the Phoenix Suns’ interest in Bronny James is genuine amid the speculation and trade considerations. It’ll be interesting to see how it all unfolds tonight.
