Ed is to make sure that he leads the story down the line so that it would end up in a dead end. He wanted his life to be normal after he got reincarnated in the game at a low-tier level. But the world just doesn’t let him be and gets him involved in the mess.
Despite all kinds of troubles Ed has gotten himself into, he can make a clear path and make sure everything is within bounds. It is thanks to his knowledge and wit that everything is going well. However, the characters keep developing in uncanny ways, making his life miserable but surely not uneventful. If anything, it’s the trouble that makes the story exciting.
