A 50-year-old employee of the Kyoto District Legal Affairs Bureau, who had faced assault charges for an incident stemming from a manga spoiler, has been cleared of all accusations.
The Kyoto District Public Prosecutors Office made the decision not to pursue prosecution, although specific reasons behind this choice have not been disclosed.
The decision, dated June 3, 2024, marks the conclusion of a legal saga that began on Feb 1, 2024.
Charges Dropped Against Officer Accused of Assaulting Co-worker Over Oshi No Ko Spoilers
During a casual conversation in the Uji Branch office of the Kyoto District Legal Affairs Bureau, where the accused was stationed, the incident occurred.
The accused, visibly agitated by a manga spoiler regarding the development of Oshi no Ko, allegedly confronted his subordinate, also in his 50s.
Expressing intense frustration over having key plot points divulged, the accused reportedly grabbed the subordinate by the collar and kicked around the waist.
Although the subordinate did not sustain any injuries, he filed a complaint with the Uji Police Station, prompting an investigation by law enforcement authorities.
Subsequently, on April 30, 2024, the Kyoto Prefectural Police referred the supervisor for prosecution on assault charges.
However, the prosecution ultimately decided not to pursue the case, bringing an end to the legal proceedings surrounding the manga spoiler-induced altercation.
