Recap
Superman springs into action to rescue Silas Stone from a burning building, his powers augmented by a mysterious glowing aura.
However, before Superman can learn more about Silas, he must attend to other emergencies. Livewire emerges, suggesting she may have started the fire, and Silas, fearing for his son, coerces silence from witnesses.
After the opening credits, Amertek’s announcement of a new development plant in Metropolis sets the stage for corporate intrigue.
Meanwhile, Jimmy grapples with managing Flamebird interns, steering General Lane’s disregard for cleanliness, and concealing Clark’s superhero identity.
Clark’s struggle intensifies as General Lane becomes increasingly suspicious of his nighttime disappearances and tardiness in meeting Lois.
Clark, as Superman, and Jimmy investigate a mysterious message, leading them to Dr. John Irons’ apartment.
Irons reveals that he and Stone were hired by Amertek to develop a mech suit for first responders, but Weston rushed production of the Metallos despite their unstable core.
Irons warns that the cores are essentially bombs, prone to exploding when activated together, a fact Weston has been hiding by paying off Livewire and others to destroy evidence.
As Lois and Vicki arrive at Irons’ apartment, Livewire attacks, destroying evidence before Superman and Irons rush to Amertek.
There, they team up to halt the reactor, but Weston activates a fleet of Metallos to thwart their efforts.
Superman finds himself overwhelmed, but Dr. Irons, wearing the Steel mech suit he developed, comes to his rescue.
Together, they work to neutralize the nuclear core’s energy by destroying surrounding pillars. However, complications arise as the core absorbs energy from the Metallos, prompting Superman to use his new aura power to contain the explosion threat while Irons dismantles the pillars, ultimately averting disaster.
Following the crisis, Vicki celebrates sharing her story, unaware that Lois had already published hers. Vicki offers Lois a job, recognizing her talent, but it would require leaving Metropolis.
Meanwhile, Clark and Lois continue to struggle with communication about personal matters, including Clark’s cousin and the potential of Lois relocating.
Despite this, Clark finds inspiration for his Daily Planet article, highlighting Irons’ heroism in saving the city.
Clark’s article praising Irons’ bravery seems to bring a moment of relief until Lex Luthor’s intervention. Lex reveals his acquisition of Amertek, including Irons’ mech suit technology.
The episode closes with Amanda Waller and Lex inspecting the fleet of unfinished Metallos, hinting at future confrontations.
