Carmelo Hayes recently addressed a botched spot during his match with Cody Rhodes on the first night of the 2024 WWE Draft.
The main event saw Hayes challenge Cody for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Despite a valiant effort, Hayes ultimately lost the match but impressed fans with his performance.
Setting the Record Straight
During the match, both wrestlers attempted springboard moves at the same time. Their timing was off, resulting in a fall for both of them. This led some fans to speculate that Rhodes was supposed to catch Hayes mid-air with a signature move.
Hayes appeared on “The Ringer Wrestling Show” to clarify the situation. He explained that neither wrestler intended for Rhodes to catch him. They both planned their own springboard moves and simply misjudged the timing.
Hayes acknowledges that fans sometimes make assumptions based on what they see. He encourages fans to simply enjoy the show and avoid making assumptions about what wrestlers are trying to accomplish.
While the botched spot may have caused some confusion, both wrestlers are healthy and moving forward. Carmelo Hayes will be competing in the King of the Ring tournament, facing Baron Corbin in the first round.
