Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, better known as YoungBoy Never Broke Again or NBA YoungBoy, has been apprehended in Utah.
The arrest, executed by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office at 2:50 p.m., ensnared the 24-year-old rapper on six counts, notably including possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and a pattern of unlawful activity—both classified as Class 2 felony charges. As indicated by police records, bail has not been established.
Among YoungBoy’s additional charges are attempts to obtain drugs or prescriptions, identity fraud, forgery, and possession of other controlled substances.
The Louisiana-native rapper, renowned for his collaborations with artists like Migos, Juice Wrld, and Tyler, the Creator, was already under strict house arrest following two arrests during a 2020 music video shoot.
He was indicted in March 2021 after allegedly being found in possession of two firearms during a music video shoot where 16 individuals were arrested for drug and weapon-related offenses in an abandoned lot. YoungBoy is presently awaiting trial for the gun charges.
In December, a federal judge modified the terms of YoungBoy’s house arrest to enable access to mental health treatments.
However, the rapper’s plea for extended studio time was rejected.In 2022, YoungBoy was acquitted of knowingly possessing a firearm in connection to a 2021 arrest in Los Angeles.
The incident unfolded when LAPD officers pulled him over, leading to his arrest after a brief pursuit, during which a pistol was found beneath the passenger seat of his vehicle.
During the trial, a district court judge ruled out the use of YoungBoy’s lyrics as evidence.
In a 2023 Billboard cover story, the rapper expressed remorse over his violent lyrics and revealed aspirations to embrace Mormonism.
