Since his return to WWE, Shawn Spears has expanded his role beyond just wrestling in the ring. After moving from AEW back to WWE for a stint in NXT, known as “The Chairman,” Spears has been active not only as a wrestler but also as a backstage producer.
Reports from Fightful Select reveal that Spears has been multitasking since his return to NXT, especially during his ongoing feud with Ridge Holland.
Role As a Producer
Starting from the April 16 episode, Spears has taken on duties as a producer, shadowing Johnny Moss backstage at the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, FL.
During a recent two-hour episode of NXT on USA, Spears was seen assisting with the women’s matches, showcasing his involvement in various aspects of production. Alongside former WWE Superstars turned producers like Matt Bloom, Oney Lorcan, and Wesley Blake, Spears is exploring this dual role.
It remains to be seen whether Spears will fully transition into a permanent producer role like his counterparts. However, his involvement behind the scenes adds a new dimension to his contributions to WWE NXT.
By learning from experienced producers and contributing to the creative process backstage, Spears is not only expanding his skill set but also playing a vital role in shaping the future direction of the brand. This dual role highlights his versatility and dedication to contributing to the success of NXT both in and out of the ring.
